BNP’s Publicity Secretary Sultan Salahuddin Tuku has warned the interim government that his party knows how to ensure elections if they are not held as scheduled. He stated that BNP has endured the repression of the fascist Awami League government in the past but never abandoned the streets. He added that the roadmap for the August movement was given by BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, under whose leadership the movement succeeded. Tuku urged the government to announce elections immediately, emphasizing that the country’s law-and-order situation is deteriorating, leaving no alternative but to hold elections.

Former Mayor Atiqul Islam, Junaid Ahmed Palak, Kamrul Islam, and Kamal Ahmed Mojumdar have been arrested in separate cases related to killings during the recent mass uprising. Palak has been implicated in a murder case filed in Jatrabari, while the court has granted a four-day remand for his questioning in a student movement-related case involving the killing of a CNG driver.

A leaked mobile audio recording revealing a plot to murder Chhatra Dal leader Kamrul Hasan Akash in Noakhali’s Kabirhat upazila has led to a formal police complaint. The accused individuals—Abdul Hakim Sujon (38), Safi Ullah alias Henju Maji, Abdul Malek (55), and Md. Yunus (45)—are now under investigation. Abdul Hakim Sujon has reportedly confirmed that the leaked voice recording belongs to him. The incident has caused significant political tension in the region.

The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has established a 161-member central coordinating committee for its labor wing. Mazharul Islam Fakir has been appointed as the chief coordinator, while motor transport worker Mosharraf Hossain Swapan will serve as joint coordinator. NCP emphasized that workers have been fighting for their fundamental rights since the colonial era, yet even after 54 years of independence, fair wages, safe working conditions, and social security remain elusive. Thirteen stolen cows were recovered from the house of BNP leader Abdul Gafur Shah (40) in Kahalu, Bogura. Shah, who served as the organizational secretary of the local BNP unit, was expelled from the party following the incident. Based on a thief’s confession, Naogaon DB Police and Atrai Police raided his house on Saturday night and recovered the stolen cows.

BNP leader Ruhul Quddus Talukder Dulu has claimed that a certain group is trying to turn the army against the people. He praised the army for maintaining law and order, curbing injustice and extortion, and upholding voting rights for the past seven to eight months. He warned that those attempting to create conflict between the army and the people are trying to orchestrate another 1/11-style political crisis.

NCP Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari has stated that there will be no compromise regarding the Awami League. He declared that anyone advocating for the rehabilitation of the Awami League is an enemy of the National Citizens Party. Patwari warned that whether from the cantonment or a political party, those who support Awami League will face the same fate as the party itself. He emphasized that without completing the reform process, proper justice for the Awami League cannot be ensured. He urged the government to expedite the reform process and prepare for the upcoming local government elections before the national elections.

On Sunday, the Ziaur Rahman Foundation distributed Eid gifts and greetings from Tarique Rahman to two families of martyrs in Paikgacha, Khulna. Amirul Islam Kagzi, director of the foundation, personally handed over the gifts to the blind father and younger sister of martyr Rakibul Islam in Kalidapur village and to the family of martyr Nabi Nur Moral in Srikantopur village.

BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman accused the Awami League of destroying Bangladesh’s institutions and electoral system. He stated that without significant reforms, the country cannot progress towards its aspirations. BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi claimed that the army’s alignment with the people during the 1971 and 1990 movements, as well as the 2024 mass uprising, intensified protests, forcing "fascist" Sheikh Hasina to flee. Sharmin Ahmad, daughter of Tajuddin Ahmad, claimed that Sheikh Mujibur Rahman fled on March 25, 1971, leaving his party members in danger, just as Sheikh Hasina has done. She alleged that Mujib had instructed Tajuddin to "sleep peacefully, as a strike had been called for the day after tomorrow," despite knowing about the impending crackdown. According to her, Mujib had full knowledge of the events but failed to give clear directives or declare independence before his departure.

Following an Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) request, a court has ordered the seizure of former state minister Meher Afroze Chumki’s 3,115-square-foot apartment in Banani and the freezing of five bank accounts. These accounts hold a total of BDT 2.32 crore. ACC Assistant Director Minhaj Bin Islam filed the petition, which was subsequently approved by the court.

NCP leader Abdul Hannan Masud has reacted strongly to a recent post by Sargis Alam regarding attempts to reintegrate the Awami League into politics.

Hannan wrote, “What is this, brother? I’m saying it publicly—one of you is lying. This cannot continue. You hold key party positions, yet you are making personal remarks in public, bringing unnecessary controversy to NCP.”

He further questioned, “When people are placing their hopes on NCP, who is trying to create internal conflicts? Sorry, I couldn’t stay silent anymore.”

The ‘White Panel’ of Dhaka University (DU) teachers has demanded the arrest of Professor Zeenat Huda.

In a statement, they accused her of siding against students and the public during the 2024 mass uprising, expressing unconditional support for the fascist Hasina government, and endorsing state-led violence. “Despite being rejected by the DU Teachers’ Association, she continues to misuse the association’s name to make statements on various issues,” the statement read.

Condemning her actions, they added, “For inciting violence, making derogatory remarks about students, opposing the mass uprising, and visiting Ganobhaban as a representative of the teachers’ association to support Sheikh Hasina’s atrocities, we strongly demand her immediate arrest and trial.”
