Bangladesh is working to improve safe and environmentally friendly waste management with support from South Korea. Environment Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan met a delegation from Sudokwon Landfill Management Corporation (SLC) to discuss technical cooperation. Plans include closing and rehabilitating two dumping sites in Chattogram and establishing a modern sanitary landfill with Korean funding. The initiative aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and involve informal waste collectors in the new system. Korea expressed interest in sharing advanced landfill technology and models with Bangladesh.

At a rally in Gangni, Meherpur, NCP South Region leader Hasanat Abdullah declared that no election can take place in the country without delivering justice to Sheikh Hasina and implementing necessary reforms. He criticized certain political parties for uniting to delay elections and for opposing both justice and reform. Hasanat asserted that if these parties genuinely wanted elections, they would push for swift completion of justice and reforms. He called on the interim government to expedite these processes to pave the way for free and fair elections in the shortest possible time.

NCP Convener Nahid Islam stated that the slogan “Delhi na Dhaka” (Neither Delhi nor Dhaka) originated during the protest march against the murder of Abrar Fahad. Speaking after visiting Abrar’s grave on July 8, Nahid described Abrar as a symbol of Bangladesh’s resistance against Indian dominance, a path that NCP politics continues to follow. He emphasized that the movement sparked by Abrar’s death marked a turning point in Bangladesh’s political landscape and inspired the July Mass Uprising. Nahid paid tribute to all martyrs, from Abrar Fahad to Abu Said, and remembered the victims of enforced disappearances, killings, and torture over the past 16 years. He affirmed the party’s commitment to the politics of patriotism and sovereignty that these martyrs represented.

In Natore, Hasanat Abdullah, the chief organizer of the NCP South Region, was seen breaking down in tears during a meeting with the families of martyrs from the July Movement. While speaking with the father of college student Mikdad Hossain Akib, Hasanat was overwhelmed with emotion and could be seen crying uncontrollably. The heartfelt moment was captured in photos and videos that quickly went viral on social media from Monday night, moving thousands of people to tears. After a commemorative rally honoring the martyrs, NCP leaders met with their families to express solidarity and sympathy.

Senior Joint Secretary General of BNP, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, stated that there is no room in the party for land grabbers or extortionists. He emphasized that BNP is a democratic and principled party and takes immediate disciplinary action against any misconduct by its members.

In a press briefing, Rizvi also criticized administrative inaction, alleging that a rising "mob culture" and tech-based smear campaigns are part of a broader conspiracy to delay elections. He reaffirmed BNP’s commitment to restoring democracy and ensuring good governance.

Masud Saeedi, a Jamaat-e-Islami-endorsed parliamentary candidate, criticized rival political parties for failing to ensure the safety of their own members. “If a party can't safeguard its own activists, how can they ensure the safety of 180 million citizens?” he questioned.

He highlighted that Jamaat-e-Islami has already announced candidates for 296 constituencies without any incidents of violence, contrasting it with internal conflicts seen in other parties during committee formations.

Calling for a corruption-free leadership and a safer Bangladesh, Saeedi urged voters to support Jamaat-e-Islami. “No one can accuse my father, a former Member of Parliament, of a single act of corruption. If elected, I will serve you with the same integrity and commitment.”

US President Donald Trump announced new high tariffs on imports from 14 countries, effective August 1. Bangladesh faces a 35% tariff, while South Korea and Japan will have a 25% tariff. Other countries like Myanmar, Laos, South Africa, and Indonesia face tariffs ranging from 25% to 40%. This move escalates the ongoing trade tensions and follows reciprocal tariffs introduced earlier this year. Gano Adhikar Parishad General Secretary Rashed Khan has alleged that efforts are underway to restore the Awami League to power through a revamped Jatiya Party, under the leadership of its new Secretary General, Barrister Shamim Haider Patwary. He claimed that after earlier attempts involving figures like Saber Hossain Chowdhury and Mannan failed, Patwary is now being used as the last resort. The High Court has released its full verdict declaring Sections 20 and 21 of the 15th Amendment, which abolished the caretaker government system, unconstitutional and void. The court also invalidated several added constitutional articles and reinstated the referendum provision under Article 142, saying its removal undermined the Constitution’s basic structure. The 15th Amendment made 54 changes in total, but the court left the decision on other provisions to the next Parliament. The verdict followed writs filed by civil society leaders in 2023.

BNP leaders from Bhola-2 have strongly refuted a land-grabbing allegation against senior leader and former MP Hafiz Ibrahim, calling it false and politically motivated.

Ibrahim stated that the complainant, Selim, is not from his constituency and has no connection to him. He clarified that the land dispute involves Selim and the husband of his niece, and a case has already been filed over it. He warned that this smear campaign is part of a broader conspiracy ahead of the upcoming national election to destabilize the political environment.
