Supporters of Ishraq Hossain staged demonstrations for the third consecutive day, demanding that he be officially handed the responsibilities of Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC). The protest disrupted traffic in the area.

Though protesters initially planned to march from Nagar Bhaban to the Secretariat, police intervention halted their advance. They later regrouped outside the National Press Club. Earlier in the day, under the banner "Dhakabashi," thousands of supporters gathered in front of Nagar Bhaban, chanting slogans and blocking the main gate in protest of the delay in Ishraq's oath-taking ceremony.

This deserves serious attention. Justice must prevail,” he said.

He added, “The people of Bangladesh are waiting to see the perpetrators punished. A swift and exemplary punishment would serve as a strong deterrent for others.” Shafiqur Rahman also called for speedy justice in the murder of Montu Chandra Das, whose daughter was a victim of sexual assault in Barguna.

Political leader Zonayed Saki emphasized the need for inclusive discussions when making decisions about national and international interests, including strategic assets like the Chittagong Port. He called for strengthening national unity to resist foreign interference. Saki cited Maulana Bhasani as a symbol of environmental and riverine justice, emphasizing that water resources belong to all living beings, not just humans. He added that token anti-India rhetoric won't protect national interests—if bilateral talks with India fail, disputes must be raised on international platforms.

The National Revolutionary Council has called upon Islamic scholars to play a pivotal role in uniting the Muslim Ummah in support of oppressed Muslims in Palestine, Kashmir, and Arakan. Nurul Haque Nur has warned against politicizing the July people's uprising, likening it to how the Awami League monopolized the 1971 Liberation War for political gain. He asserted that the July uprising belongs to the people—not to any political party or individual. “It is the result of the struggles of ordinary citizens from all walks of life,” he said. Nur emphasized that the movement’s goal is to bring down fascism and build a new Bangladesh—where elected representatives truly represent the people and are not selected through manipulated, rigged elections.

Supporters of BNP’s Ishraq Hossain have warned of a city-wide blockade if he is not immediately sworn in as mayor. Under the leadership of SM Reza Selim and Anisuzzaman, Demra BNP leaders staged a siege at Dhaka South City Corporation headquarters, demanding Ishraq’s formal appointment. They argued that an elected mayor is far more accountable and capable of improving city infrastructure than an unelected administrator. The leaders warned that if their demand is not met, further action will be taken from Demra, including cutting off road access between Dhaka and eastern districts.

Jamaat-e-Islami leader Dr. Helal Uddin declared that no fascist force defeated by the people has ever made a comeback—and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will be no exception. “Her family knows this, which is why her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy and others are acquiring foreign citizenship,” he claimed. He emphasized that Jamaat does not guarantee paradise but shows the path to it through establishing divine law. “Without establishing Islamic governance, true practice of Islam is not possible,” he said. He argued that to eliminate corruption like usury and bribery, the economic system must be reformed in line with Islamic principles.

Mahmudur Rahman Manna, president of Nagorik Oikya, has urged political leaders to reassess their approach to securing Bangladesh’s fair share of Teesta River water. He criticized the ruling Awami League for aligning too closely with Indian interests, stating that even after a public uprising, India refuses to let Bangladesh prosper peacefully. Manna noted that unlike Pakistan, Bangladesh does not possess nuclear weapons or missiles to assert pressure and must therefore adopt smarter diplomatic strategies. He cited India’s gradual reduction of water promised in the Farakka agreement and questioned why the media remains silent about the issue. He also warned against handing over key national assets, such as the Chittagong port and internet infrastructure, to foreign entities.
