Jagannath University’s TSC area tea vendor Govinda accused Chhatra Dal leader Hasan Sajib of locking his shop for four days. Sajib, a student of the 2017-18 batch and a committee member of the student group, allegedly used his authority to seize control of the shop. “I had to break the lock to open it,” said Govinda. Sajib claimed the shop was initially operated by another person who gave him the key, questioning whether a third-class employee could own a TSC shop.

Mohammad Imtiaz Alam, leader of Islami Andolan Bangladesh, criticized the Women’s Reform Commission’s recent proposals, calling them incompatible with Islamic values and Bangladeshi culture. “The recommendations are a declaration of war against Islam,” he stated. He demanded immediate withdrawal, warning of severe public backlash. He emphasized that prostitution is strongly condemned in all major religions, with Islam prescribing clear punishments in the Quran.

On April 19, 2025, during the party's third general meeting, the NCP decided to form a 'Disciplinary Committee' to maintain internal discipline and investigate allegations of misconduct by its members. Advocate Abdullah Al-Amin has been appointed as the head of the committee. The members of the committee include Dr. Tajnuva Jabin, Arpita Shyama Deb, Advocate Zahirul Islam Musa, Mir Arshadul Haque, Farhad Alam Bhuiyan, Advocate Ali Nasser Khan, Akram Hossain (Raj), Arman Hossain, Md. Abdullah Al Faisal, Sanullah Khan, and Syed Jamil.

BNP leader Amir Khasru stated that reaching a consensus on reform proposals should take no more than a week, and elections can be held before December based on this agreement. He emphasized that unresolved issues will be addressed after the elections in Parliament, with each party's mandate. He also called for government action to ensure judicial proceedings.

Student leader Nasir Uddin Nasir said the banned Chhatra League imposed its views on students through violence, polluting educational institutions. Chhatra Dal is now selecting leadership based on students' opinions and has set up structures in 1,000 institutions, with plans for 2,500 more. He also mentioned working in madrassas to address discrimination created by the government.

Jamaat Secretary Golam Parwar condemned the Arakan Army's intrusion into Bangladesh's territory on April 16-17, where armed soldiers from the group crossed the border into Bandarban's Remakri area. They celebrated a water festival with local indigenous people, an event that was shared on social media. Parwar labeled this as a grave threat to Bangladesh's sovereignty and independence. He raised questions about the government's response, asking why the government, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), and the military failed to act. He demanded accountability from the current government and military for this failure.

BNP leader Abdus Salam stated that despite fighting for independence, they are still struggling for the right to vote. He expressed regret that if they have to protest against this government again, it would be unfortunate. He warned that long-term rule without elections leads to fascism and called for immediate elections under Dr. Yunus's leadership to protect the country from instability.

Umama Fatema, spokesperson for the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, called for justice in Zahidul Islam Parvez’s murder. She accused Chhatra Dal of shifting focus to political dissection and hiding the real culprits. Fatema clarified that those seen attacking in the first CCTV footage have no ties to the Anti-Discrimination movement, while the second footage showed Anti-Discrimination members and Chhatra Dal activists. She condemned media trials and called for an unbiased investigation.

BNP Joint Secretary General Syed Emran Saleh Prince said that BNP believes in the principle of "Religion is for Individuals, The State Belongs to All." He emphasized that BNP is a religion-friendly party, committed to building an inclusive nation. He also assured that BNP, under Tarique Rahman, will fulfill its 31-point plan to create an egalitarian and discrimination-free state.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam stressed the importance of vigilance, as democracy has not yet progressed. He called for reforms and elections to be resolved through dialogue among political parties. Fakhrul condemned the murder of Zahidul, stating that those responsible were not part of Bangladesh's change movement and expressed disappointment over the lack of focus on reforms for farmers and workers.

Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman has expressed shock over the Women’s Reform Commission’s report, saying that some recommendations clearly violate the Qur’an and Hadith. He stated that instead of reinforcing moral and religious values to address growing social and familial problems, the recommendations introduce harmful elements that could destabilize society. He warned that these suggestions would destroy the moral fabric of all religions and that the people of Bangladesh would overwhelmingly reject them.

A court has ordered the seizure of three apartments, one flat, and three Land Cruiser vehicles owned by former State Minister Nasrul Hamid, based on a request by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). Additionally, 70 bank accounts have been frozen. Earlier on January 27, a court ordered the seizure of a flat and 17 bank accounts in the name of his son, Zarif Hamid, and also imposed a travel ban on him.

Jamshedul Islam Tutul, former Secretary of the Awami Swechasebak League in Hatiya’s Horoni Union, has now been appointed President of the local Zia Mancha. Tutul claims he was appointed to the Awami League role without consent and had formally rejected it. “I was the founding president of Horoni Union Chhatra Dal and was forced to work for the MP,” he stated. However, local BNP members allege that he had previously oppressed them using political influence.

BNP leader Salahuddin Ahmed has expressed the party’s support for proposals to empower the President while maintaining the current powers of the Prime Minister. However, the party opposes making a two-term limit for the Prime Minister mandatory, preferring it to remain optional. BNP has also recommended allowing MPs to vote independently on all matters except money bills, no-confidence motions, national security, and constitutional amendments. Salahuddin further stated that the same individual should not simultaneously serve as the head of government, party leader, and parliamentary leader—a proposal on which the party remains divided. BNP supports reverting to the pre-15th Amendment constitutional framework, with added emphasis on equality, human dignity, and social justice.

NCP’s Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari has called for investigations and legal action against those involved in malpractice during the past three national elections. He stated that the Chief Election Commissioner assured them of action. Patwari also demanded changes to nomination procedures and electoral expenditure rules, insisting candidates must submit nominations in person.
