BNP’s Acting Chairman, Tarique Rahman, has warned that certain defeated forces may attempt to destabilize Bangladesh by exploiting the Eid holidays. In his Eid message to the nation, he stated, “The prayers for celebrating Eid in a democratic and free environment have been answered. Through a historic mass uprising, and at the cost of over 2,000 lives, Bangladesh has broken free from the chains of dictatorship.” He prayed for the martyrs and urged party leaders and activists to share Eid with the families of the injured and deceased. Additionally, he encouraged the well-off to support the underprivileged, law enforcement to ensure security, and transport operators to maintain fair fares.

Syeda Sharmila Rahman, wife of the late Arafat Rahman Koko, urgently returned to Dhaka on Sunday. BNP media cell member Shairul Kabir stated that she arrived to attend to her ailing mother, Mokarema Reza, who is currently in the CCU of a private hospital. The Zia family has requested prayers for her recovery.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir voiced concerns over delays in Bangladesh’s elections, warning that keeping Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in India while postponing the polls could exacerbate the country’s political crisis. He stressed the need for a clear electoral roadmap, arguing that the difference between an elected and an unelected government is immense.

BNP senior leader Mirza Abbas congratulated Ishraq Hossain on being reinstated as the Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation by court order on March 27. Abbas welcomed Ishraq at his residence, expressing hope that under his leadership, the city would address its long-standing issues, including traffic congestion, drainage, and unauthorized encroachments. He affirmed that Ishraq would remain dedicated to serving the citizens.

Muhammad Imtiaz Alam, a leader of Islami Andolan Bangladesh, has strongly criticized the recommendations submitted by the Women Reform Commission to the Chief Adviser. He stated that the proposals conflict with the values, beliefs, and cultural norms of the majority population. “This is tantamount to declaring war against Islam,” he warned. Imtiaz Alam emphasized that prostitution is strictly forbidden in Islam—as well as other major religions—and the Qur’an outlines clear punishments for such acts. He demanded an immediate withdrawal of the proposal, cautioning that public outrage could lead to a dangerous situation.

Ganadhikar Parishad’s Office Secretary, Shakil Uzzaman, expressed his gratitude to the people who stood by him while he was imprisoned. Speaking at an Iftar distribution event, he noted that past efforts to attack such programs had failed, and he warned that divine justice would eventually hold the ruling party accountable. He also extended Eid greetings, stating that this year’s celebrations would be free from fascism and dictatorship.

As per the directive of BNP’s acting chairman and patron of ‘Amra BNP Poribar,’ Tarique Rahman, Eid gifts were distributed to over 2,000 families affected by enforced disappearances, killings, and injuries during the so-called fascist era. The gifts were also extended to families of those who were martyred or injured during the 2024 mass uprising.

In Ramganj, Lakshmipur, BNP leader Azizur Rahman Bacchu Molla, father of Information Advisor Mahfuz Alam, was attacked at his ancestral home. He sustained injuries to his hand and received medical treatment. In response, anti-discrimination activists held a protest march in the Upazila on Sunday night. Sources report that BNP and Chhatra Dal members attacked the home of Upazila Chhatra League Vice President Mehedi Manju, leading to Bacchu Molla’s intervention. The altercation turned violent, resulting in the attack on Bacchu Molla.

BNP leader Khairul Kabir Khokon stated that Awami League has carried out mass killings to cement its grip on power, and such crimes are unforgivable. He called for the highest level of justice to prevent future autocratic regimes. He added that the ruling party has lost its moral right to continue in politics as the people have outright rejected them. Khokon emphasized the need for a proper electoral roadmap to avoid further political and economic instability.

Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Dr. Shafiqur Rahman visited the family of Shaheed Mir Mahfuzur Rahman Mugdho. Following discussions with the family members, he led a prayer session. Earlier, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman concluded a nine-day Itikaf and left the mosque upon sighting the moon. Later, he also visited the residence of former party Secretary General Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid and met with his family members.

For the first time in 15 years, Bangladesh is celebrating Eid without a fascist regime. Former Dhaka University student leader Sadiq Qayem emphasized the sacrifices made by thousands who lost their lives in the uprising. “Last year, many sons and daughters celebrated Eid with their families. This year, thousands have attained martyrdom while fighting for our freedom. We will not forget them in our Eid prayers,” he said. The student community has announced plans for Eid rallies and celebrations nationwide, marking the end of oppression.

BNP’s acting chairman, Tarique Rahman, has sent Eid gifts to over 557 Islamic scholars across the country.

According to BNP Media Cell member Shairul Kabir Khan, the gifts were distributed through party leaders, including 106 scholars from Dhaka city. The initiative was taken as part of Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations to honor religious leaders.

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and acting chairman Tarique Rahman have extended Eid greetings to the people of Bangladesh.

Professor Zahid Hossain, Khaleda Zia’s personal physician, informed the media that she is celebrating Eid in London at her son Tarique Rahman’s residence. “Madam is spending the day privately with her family. This is her third Eid in London, and her daughters-in-law and three granddaughters have arranged everything around her,” he said.

He added, “She is doing much better than before. She can now say ‘Alhamdulillah, I am much better.’” Both Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman conveyed their heartfelt Eid wishes to the nation and BNP supporters.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has stated that party Chairperson Khaleda Zia, who is currently in London for medical treatment, has shown signs of improvement. He mentioned that this Eid marks the first time in eight years that she is celebrating with her family. While her exact return date is uncertain, she is expected to be back in Bangladesh by mid-April. Fakhrul alleged that Khaleda Zia developed liver cirrhosis while in prison, where she received no proper medical care. He further claimed that she was subjected to slow poisoning while incarcerated, citing the deplorable condition of her prison cell—damp walls, crumbling plaster, and the presence of rats.

In an undisclosed location in Barguna, Awami League activists distributed Eid gifts under the banner of ‘Joy Bangla Parishad’ in the name of fugitive Sheikh Hasina. A video of the distribution went viral, leading BNP activists to stage a protest against it.

The viral Facebook video, posted by former Barguna municipal councilor Touhid Molla, shows Awami League’s Upazila Vice President Abu Zafar, District Jubo League leader Tanvir Siddiqui, and several others distributing Eid gifts labeled as “A gift from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.” In response, BNP leaders condemned the act, accusing Awami League of destabilizing Barguna. They demanded the immediate arrest of those involved, calling them fascists.
