Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Abdullah Al-Mamun has been named a co-defendant alongside Sheikh Hasina in a tribunal case for alleged crimes against humanity in suppressing a mass uprising. Mohammad Tajul Islam stated that student Shaikh Asahabul Yamin was killed during the protests in Savar. The tribunal has ordered three accused to be presented in court. He further added that Hasina was initially the sole defendant, but now Abdullah Al-Mamun has been included, and an arrest warrant has been issued against him.

Rangpur Awami League leader Lipi Khan Bhorosa has been arrested by the police in connection with an attempted murder case related to the recent mass uprising. She had openly participated in Tipu Munshi’s election rally and is also the chairperson of SL Bhorosa Group. Reports indicate that on July 19, protestors gathered in front of City Market when police and Awami League activists opened fire on them, injuring several people. On November 13 last year, a case was filed at Kotwali Police Station regarding the shooting of Mamunur Rashid Mamun. Lipi Khan is listed as the 179th accused in this case.

Tarique Rahman has taken responsibility for the family of Montu Chandra Das, who was murdered after filing a case against his daughter’s rapists. On Sunday evening, Rahman spoke with Montu’s wife over the phone, assuring her of support. Earlier, he arranged for food supplies, clothing, and other necessities to be delivered to the grieving family. Montu’s daughter, a seventh-grader, was raped on March 5. After filing the case, Montu was brutally killed on the night of March 11.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed two separate cases against Hasanul Haque Inu and his wife Afroza Haque for acquiring illegal wealth. Suspicious transactions amounting to 118,816,019 BDT were identified in his four bank accounts. Additionally, it is alleged that his wife has become wealthy through these illicit earnings.
