As part of its month-long campaign, the National Democratic Party (JAGPA) organized public meetings and outreach events in Bogura and Jamalpur on Friday. In Bogura, party leader Shamim Akhtar Pilot expressed strong criticism against India’s alleged illegal cross-border "push-ins" and those who support Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

"India is our neighbor, not our master," Shamim said. "It wasn’t enough for them to shelter Hasina — now they’re destabilizing our environment by pushing people across the border illegally every day. This must stop."

In Jamalpur, another JAGPA leader, SM Ziaul Anwar, claimed that August 5 marked the fall of both the Awami League and India in the eyes of the people, who are now united against foreign interference. JAGPA spokesperson Rashed Pradhan called for a siege of the Indian High Commission on August 6, demanding an end to Indian border aggression and accountability for Sheikh Hasina and Awami League leaders.

Hasnat Abdullah, Chief Organizer for the southern region of the National Citizen Party (NCP), said that Bangladesh has always been under the control of the bureaucracy, business elites, or the military—but never the people. He declared that the NCP is committed to building a people-powered Bangladesh. Speaking at a rally in Sylhet, Abdullah urged the public to be wary of media personalities and writers who gained prominence under the Awami League. NCP, he emphasized, is not a syndicate or extortionist group but a genuine alternative to the ruling party. The party’s chief coordinator, Nasiruddin Patwari, added that while the NCP is not anti-BNP, it opposes all forms of extortion and economic monopolies. He also pledged to improve the lives of tea garden workers by ensuring they receive a share of profits.

Khelafat Majlis has strongly condemned the killing of two unarmed Bangladeshi nationals by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) near the Feni border. In a meeting of the party’s central executive committee, leaders accused India of once again adopting a hostile and imperialistic stance toward Bangladesh. The party decried the act as a gross violation of human rights and demanded accountability and compensation from India, calling for international legal intervention. The party also criticized the interim government for its failure to address the Gopalganj attack and recent aviation accidents. Additionally, Khelafat leaders called on the government to shut down the UN human rights office in Bangladesh and immediately declare a "July Accord."

Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher, Nayeb-e-Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami, has claimed that the party’s latest rally at Suhrawardy Udyan saw a larger turnout than the historic March 7 speech by Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Speaking at a Dhaka South city unit workers’ conference, Taher said the crowd overflowed from the park into Ramna, the Dhaka University area, and all the way to Dhaka Medical College. He asserted that calling for electoral reform is not a conspiracy, but rather, “Hasina-style elections” are the real conspiracy. Taher warned that elections without justice and a level playing field would not be accepted. He also noted that student awareness and a rebellious spirit among the public remain alive.

Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr. M. Sakhawat Hossain, Advisor to the Ministry of Shipping, has affirmed that Chattogram Port is the property of Bangladesh and will remain under national control.

“Chattogram Port is our asset — it belongs to Bangladesh, and it will stay with us,” said Dr. Hossain. “If anyone is spreading misinformation to suggest otherwise, I urge them, in the interest of the nation, to refrain from such propaganda.”

He clarified that the involvement of foreign operators is intended to enhance the port’s efficiency and bring it up to international standards — not to sell or transfer ownership. “The port’s management remains in the hands of the Bangladeshi authorities,” he added.

Dr. Hossain also noted that due to new initiatives, port operations have increased by 30%, marking a significant improvement. Additionally, he pointed out that the port tariff has been revised for the first time since 1986, yet it remains lower than that of Mongla Port.

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has predicted continuous heavy rain and thunderstorms across all divisions for the next 10 days. The monsoon trough has extended over northern parts of the country and the Bay of Bengal, triggering widespread rainfall. Areas in Khulna, Barisal, Chattogram, and Sylhet may experience very heavy rainfall. Temperatures may slightly drop, and a current mild heatwave in Rangpur may ease. The weather pattern is expected to persist for at least five additional days beyond the initial forecast.

The National Awami Party (NAP) has cancelled all celebratory events marking its 68th founding anniversary in respect for those killed in the Milestone plane crash.

Founded on July 26, 1957, by Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani, the party announced that this year’s anniversary would be observed with nationwide prayer sessions instead of traditional celebrations. NAP Chairperson Zebel Rahman Ghani and Secretary General M. Golam Mostafa Bhuiyan called for building a just state through national unity and paid tribute to Bhashani and other late leaders.

AB Party Chairman Mojibur Rahman Manju, speaking in Chattogram during a discussion on the July uprising, said, "Martyr Abu Sayeed was greater than any political party. Sheikh Mujib paid with his life for betraying the Liberation War’s ideals, but his daughter failed to learn from that lesson."

He emphasized that the July uprising was a manifestation of the people’s will, not the effort of a single leader or party. Manju warned that forgetting July's commitments could lead any political party to the same fate as the Awami League.

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has called for a United Nations-led impartial investigation following the killing of two Bangladeshis by India's Border Security Force (BSF) at the Feni border.

In a statement issued Friday, Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman expressed deep concern, citing rights organization Odhikar’s report that 588 Bangladeshis have been killed by BSF since 2009. He blamed the government's submissive foreign policy and urged stronger action to stop the killings and ensure justice.

BNP Standing Committee Member Goyeshwar Chandra Roy criticized the current interim administration, stating that lack of coordination and experience has led to political instability and public distrust.

Speaking after visiting the family of Anika, a student killed in the Milestone crash, Roy warned that delays in elections could raise further questions about legitimacy. He expressed frustration that even four days after the tragedy, no one from the Air Force had accepted responsibility and demanded the perpetrators be held accountable to prevent future incidents.

National Citizens’ Platform (NCP) Convenor Nahid Islam claimed that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in the face of mass uprising, fled to India and left behind an "unfit state" for the next generation.

Speaking at a street rally in Sunamganj on Friday, Nahid stressed the need for institutional reforms and preservation of the Haor and river ecosystems. He commended opposition alliances for shifting their stance and announced a mass rally in Dhaka on August 3 to push for the "July Charter and Declaration."

The death toll from the Bangladesh Air Force fighter jet crash at Milestone School and College in Uttara has risen to 33, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

More than 150 were injured in the July 21 incident, with 50 still hospitalized. Forty of them are receiving treatment at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery. The latest victim, a student named Makin from Gazipur, passed away earlier today. The tragedy, which occurred during school hours, has cast a pall of mourning across the country.

An extortion case has been filed against 56 individuals, including two leaders of the BNP’s student and youth wings, in Rajshahi. The case was lodged by Mostafizur Rahman, the owner of Green Plaza Real Estate Ltd., alleging a demand for BDT 200,000.

Main accused Mozadded Jamani Suman (Jubo Dal) and Emdadul Haque Limon (Chhatra Dal) have denied the allegations, calling the charges politically motivated. Reports also surfaced that the complainant has past allegations of fraud and claims close ties with former mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton and his wife Shahin Akhtar Reni. An investigation is yet to begin.

At a memorial prayer event held at Dhaka University Central Mosque, Chhatra Dal President Rakibul Islam Rakib accused a certain group of politicizing the mosque space. "The mosque is sacred, yet some use it for political meetings even after Fajr prayers and train others to use abusive language," he said.

The event was organized to remember the victims of the July uprising and the Milestone crash. Chhatra Dal Secretary Nasir Uddin also addressed the gathering, calling for justice for the victims of recent attacks and extending condolences to the affected families.

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman have expressed condolences to the family of Flight Lieutenant Taukir Islam, who died in the same crash. On Friday, a BNP delegation led by Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir visited the officer's residence in Dhaka Cantonment.

The delegation, which included former military officials and senior party leaders, conveyed messages of solidarity and sympathy on behalf of the party.
