The National Revolutionary Council organized a protest after Friday prayers at the north gate of Baitul Mukarram Mosque, condemning ongoing Hindutva violence against Muslims across India.
Mohammad Shamsuddin, addressing the crowd, criticized India for aligning with Israel in the genocide of Palestinian Muslims while simultaneously stripping Indian Muslims of religious properties through conspiracies like the Waqf Bill.
He accused the Modi government of failing to calm rising Muslim anger and blamed Muslims for the recent killing of 27 tourists in Kashmir—a tactic he said was used to deflect from state failures. Protesters called for the independence of Kashmir, Palestine, and Arakan as protection for oppressed Muslims.

Renowned activist and actor Ilias Kanchan has announced the formation of a new political party, ‘Janata Party Bangladesh,’ pledging to work for the country with honesty and dedication. As chairman, he stated, “Just as I have previously served the people of this country with sincerity, I will continue to do so through this party.”

Highlighting the lack of support from previous governments during the Safe Roads Movement, Kanchan emphasized the need for genuine political will and cooperation from the current administration.

Party Secretary General Shawkat Mahmud said the Janata Party aims to be a centrist force rooted in liberal democracy. He stressed that the party will take a firm stance against authoritarianism. Calling for a new national unity, he described the “July Revolution Charter” as essential for the future of the nation.

Inquilab Manch has commenced a ‘Martyrs’ Rally’ at Shahbagh, demanding justice for the July, Pilkhana, and Shapla Square massacres, and calling for a constitutional ban on the Awami League. The platform has presented four major demands:
1. Visible progress in prosecuting the July massacre within 100 days.
2. A constitutional ban on the Awami League via executive orders, court rulings, or political consensus.
3. Official recognition of the Shapla Square incident and formation of a UN-assisted investigative commission to identify the martyrs and initiate justice.
4. Publication and implementation of the full report of the Pilkhana massacre inquiry commission.

They also demand all political parties to include clear pledges for prosecuting the Awami League’s alleged mass killings in their election manifestos.

While the Awami League remains banned from public activities across Bangladesh, its programs continue openly in Barguna. There, the party organizes leaflet distributions and Eid gifts, even staging protests demanding the return of Sheikh Hasina from India. In Gopalganj, however, public rallies by the party have faced backlash.

Border Guard Bangladesh seized 99 crude bombs and 40 petrol bombs during a raid at Chakpara in the Shibganj border area. Two suspects fled upon seeing BGB forces. Officials believe the explosives were intended to destabilize the country’s security situation. The seized items will be handed over to local police.

Shahana Khatun, 40, died after a C-section at Dr. Ratan Clinic in Rajbari, although her newborn son survived. The operation, conducted under Dr. Raisul Islam, turned critical due to complications from eclampsia. After transferring her to Faridpur Medical College, she passed away. A settlement was reached for Tk 4 lakh after negotiations with the clinic.

Renowned actor Ilias Kanchan has launched a new political party named Janata Party Bangladesh, with the slogan “Building a Just Bangladesh.” Kanchan serves as chairman, with journalist Shawkat Mahmud as secretary general and former deputy minister Golam Sarwar Milon as vice chairman. Nearly two dozen new parties have emerged following the fall of the Hasina government.

The Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police has arrested 11 additional members of banned student and affiliate wings of the Awami League for participating in sudden flash protests across the capital. Authorities allege the suspects conspired to create public unrest and destabilize the nation through coordinated demonstrations.

Home Affairs Adviser Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has stated that Italy will assist Bangladesh in curbing illegal immigration and human trafficking, along with enhancing police capacity. During a meeting with the Italian Ambassador Antonio Alessandro, he noted that around 250,000 skilled Bangladeshis are currently employed in Italy. The upcoming visit of Italy’s Interior Minister is expected to increase this number and strengthen bilateral ties. The ambassador confirmed that during the visit, the minister will meet Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus, as well as advisers on foreign affairs, law, and expatriates.

Chattogram Port Authority Chairman Rear Admiral Mohammad Musa stated that the Matarbari deep sea port will be operational by 2029. “In today’s competitive global market, we must expand our port’s capacity,” he said. He noted that trade agreements with various countries are opening new opportunities. The port is expected to handle 5 million TEUs annually in five years. Construction agreements have been signed for terminal and bay-terminal facilities at Matarbari. In the first nine months of the 2024–25 fiscal year, the port generated revenue of Tk 3,745.23 crore—10.56% higher than the same period last year, with an 8.77% surplus. He also stated that efforts to improve service quality are ongoing.

BNP leader Naharul Islam Master has been accused of threatening to abduct and kill Ekramul Haque Pipul, President of the Darshana Press Club in Chuadanga, over a news report. Naharul, a member of the Darshana Municipality BNP Coordination Committee, allegedly issued the threats after a dispute over a land issue was caught on video. Pipul was reportedly threatened over the phone while returning from the scene.
