Home Affairs Adviser Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has warned that no security personnel will be spared if found negligent in the ongoing operation launched last night. Speaking at the Banani Military Cemetery after laying a wreath in memory of the Pilkhana massacre victims, he emphasized that journalists would assess the success or failure of the operation. He also mentioned that necessary action had already been taken against two Superintendents of Police (SPs) following recent media reports about their misconduct.

In Shibganj, Bogura, unidentified attackers carried out a cocktail bomb and petrol bomb attack, vandalizing and setting fire to the residence of Roni Mia, the vice president of Upazila Jubo Dal. The victim alleges that members of Nagorik Oikya were responsible, while Nagorik Oikya leaders claim the attack was due to internal factional disputes within Jubo Dal. They are currently focused on saving their critically injured Upazila convener, Shahidul Islam, who was attacked by Chhatra Dal activists. Meanwhile, police stated they would not disclose the names of the accused until the investigation progresses.

The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has ordered the reinstatement of 85 Upazila election officials who were dismissed during the 2007 caretaker government. The court also directed authorities to provide benefits to all affected individuals, including three officials who passed away during legal proceedings. On February 25, a five-member appellate bench led by the Chief Justice delivered the ruling. The dismissed officials were among 327 individuals recruited in 2005 through the Public Service Commission (PSC) but were terminated following an evaluation by the caretaker government in 2007.

According to BNP leaders, Sheikh Hasina conspired with foreign forces to weaken Bangladesh’s military and BDR as early as 2005. Sixteen years after the tragic Pilkhana massacre, the government has officially recognized the date as National Martyr Soldiers’ Day. Home Affairs Advisor paid tribute at Banani cemetery at 9 AM, and the army also held a commemoration ceremony. Allegations persist that the investigation was flawed, and Sheikh Hasina, along with 58 others, has been charged in the International Crimes Tribunal for her alleged involvement.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir accused former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of orchestrating the Pilkhana massacre with the Awami League’s involvement. Speaking at the National Martyrs’ Cemetery on Tuesday, he described February 25 as a “dark day” for the military, alleging that the killings aimed to weaken national security. Fakhrul thanked the interim government for officially recognizing the day as National Martyr Soldiers' Day.

The National Citizens’ Committee has clarified that none of its members are part of the delegation visiting China at the invitation of the Communist Party. Spokesperson Shamanta Sharmin stated that the organization had not received any official invitation. However, three individuals affiliated with the committee—Ali Ahsan Junayed, Rafi Salman Rifat, and spokesperson Riaz Hossain Abdul Moin Khan—are attending the visit on a personal basis.

Former minister and BNP Vice Chairman Abdullah Al Noman has passed away (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilayhi Raji'un). BNP Media Cell member Shairul Kabir Khan confirmed the news. BNP leaders Tarique Rahman and Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir have expressed their condolences. Noman was first elected as an MP from Kotwali in 1991 and served as Minister of Fisheries and Livestock, as well as Food Minister. He was actively involved in student politics and later joined BNP in 1981 after its formation by Ziaur Rahman.

Grassroots BNP leaders and activists in Sunamganj have rejected the newly formed Dirai Upazila and municipal committees, staging a protest rally on Monday night. Supporters of former MP Nasir Uddin Chowdhury and BNP Advisory Committee member Tahir Raihan Pavel Chowdhury led the demonstration, protesting the appointment of Amir Ali as convener. Veteran BNP leaders accused the party of sidelining long-standing, dedicated members who have endured hardships for 17 years.

BNP Vice Chairman Abdul Awal Mintu declared that the party is capable of resisting conspiracies against Bangladesh and democratic governance. Criticizing the ruling party, he remarked that despite 17 years of struggle, BNP leaders and activists have faced inhumane persecution for their commitment to free and fair elections. Chairman of the Labor Reform Commission, Syed Sultan Uddin Ahmed, stated that drivers and helpers should not always be blamed for road accidents. He emphasized that road infrastructure, vehicles, pedestrians, and drivers all contribute to accidents. He also opposed holding drivers responsible or arresting them at accident sites without a proper trial. Labor leader Razequzzaman Ratan added that vehicle owners must take responsibility, as they profit from the operations.

BUET campus witnessed late-night protests after reports emerged that Muntasir Al Zemi, a convicted death row inmate for the brutal murder of BUET student Abrar Fahad, had escaped from his prison's condemned cell. At 11:30 PM on Monday, students marched from the Shaheed Minar to Raju Memorial, demanding Zemi's immediate arrest and execution. Abrar’s brother, Abrar Faiyaz, revealed that they learned of Zemi’s escape during a High Court hearing that day. He accused the authorities of hiding the escape since August 5 and claimed that the government deliberately withheld the information.

Shafiqul Islam Akash, joint convener of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in Gaibandha, and member secretary Jim were attacked on Monday night by a group of assailants at an industrial and handicrafts fair. Eyewitnesses reported that the two were severely injured and harassed. They are currently receiving medical treatment. Leaders of the student movement have strongly condemned the attack and demanded the immediate arrest of the perpetrators. The Officer-in-Charge of Gaibandha police station assured that an investigation has been initiated.

On National Army Day, BNP will hold prayers and discussions across the country, including Dhaka, in memory of 57 elite BDR officers who were massacred in Pilkhana. The party will also pay respects at the graves of the fallen soldiers and organize discussions. BNP leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi stated on Monday evening that the massacre on February 25, 2009, occurred due to a conspiracy involving the then Sheikh Hasina government and international forces. He added that the investigation report of the massacre has still not been published, and many crucial pieces of evidence were destroyed due to the involvement of the ruling party and foreign entities at the time.

More than 500 egg-laying ducks have reportedly been poisoned and killed at a farm in Tanguar Haor, a Ramsar-listed wetland. The incident took place on a riverine island in Tahirpur. The affected farmer, Sujan Mia, son of Siraj Mia from Mandiyata village, discovered the mass deaths after returning to his farm at noon. Locals reported that Sujan had been guarding the farm overnight and found the ducks dead upon his return. He suspects three individuals from the village, known for poisoning wild migratory birds, might be responsible. However, the Upazila livestock officer stated that he had no prior knowledge of the incident.

The investigation committee probing the recent clash between students and outsiders at Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) has been granted additional time. On Monday night, committee head Professor Dr. MMA Hashem stated that, following an urgent syndicate meeting, a four-member committee was formed and tasked with submitting a report within three days. However, due to administrative building lockdowns, the investigation remained incomplete. As a result, the syndicate chairperson approved an additional seven days for the committee to complete its work.
