Suspended Superintendent of Police (SP) SM Fazlul Haque, facing charges of dowry harassment and domestic violence, attacked a journalist while being escorted to custody in Natore after his bail plea was rejected. Following the incident, local journalists and cameramen staged a protest in front of the court detention center, demanding that Haque be treated like any other accused individual—handcuffed, unmasked, and secured with a waist rope before being taken to prison. Responding to the demand, security personnel later escorted him to jail accordingly.

BNP leader Mirza Abbas has accused businessmen who have amassed wealth illegally over the past 17 years of using their funds to destabilize the country. He also called on the media to disclose the names of businessmen who attended a business conference with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on August 3. A Bangladesh court has ordered the seizure of 54 katha of land belonging to Summit Group Chairman Aziz Khan, his family, and associated entities following a petition by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). While the land’s market value has been officially stated as BDT 1.46 crore, the actual estimated value is BDT 9.70 crore. Previously, on March 9, the court had also frozen 191 bank accounts linked to Summit Group, holding BDT 41.74 crore.

Indian security forces have arrested 29 Bangladeshi nationals during separate operations in the state of Tripura. Between March 6 and March 10, the Border Security Force (BSF) conducted raids along various border points, leading to the arrests. Additionally, seven Indian human traffickers were also apprehended. According to a report by Jagaran Tripura, the BSF has intensified security measures, including organizing over nine community meetings in border villages to address public concerns regarding illegal crossings.

A case has been filed at the International Crimes Tribunal against 121 individuals, including Sheikh Helal and Talukder Abdul Khaleq, for alleged crimes against humanity during the recent mass uprising. The plaintiff, Naeem Shikdar, claims he was shot on August 4 during the protests and still has over 400 bullet fragments in his body. He recounted how a large bullet hit his back, which was later removed without anesthesia by a doctor after repeated requests. Meanwhile, DB police have arrested constable Nasirul, who was wanted in connection with the mass killing at Chankharpul in July. He was presented before the tribunal on Tuesday.

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested 206 individuals in a series of operations across the capital, targeting criminals involved in mugging, theft, and robbery. According to a media statement from the DMP, the arrests were made in connection with 53 cases filed in various police stations. To enhance public safety and maintain law and order, the DMP deployed special patrol teams, including 14 units from the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) division working in two shifts, 12 units from the Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) operating in three shifts, and 10 Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) patrol teams at night.

Golam Kibria Md. Meshkat Chowdhury, the former central coordinator of an anti-discrimination organization, has issued a legal notice against nine individuals, including journalists and a university professor, for allegedly spreading false and baseless news. The controversy began on February 25, when Meshkat Chowdhury and three others were reportedly trapped inside Rajshahi Barind Medical College Hospital and later rescued by law enforcement. However, social media posts falsely claimed they were there for extortion. Both sides have denied any extortion attempts. In response to the misinformation, Chowdhury sent legal notices to those responsible, including Loton Ekram, Sourav Habib, Golam Rabbani, Mehedi Hasan Shyamal, Professor Kazi Zahid, Abdur Rahim, and Dr. Najib Wadud.

Dr. Alamgir Kabir, the Deputy Director (DD) of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (MAUSI) in Rajshahi, has allegedly been withholding files unless bribes are paid. Acting on complaints, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) conducted a raid at the regional office on Tuesday afternoon. During the operation, officials discovered 151 files stalled on his desk, even past their due processing time. These files reportedly include applications for teacher MPO enlistment, area bills, leave approvals, and NOCs for foreign travel. The deadline to send these files to the MAUSI headquarters in Dhaka had already passed, yet they remained with Dr. Alamgir Kabir. When questioned by ACC officials, he failed to provide a satisfactory explanation.

"Shibir organizes iftar programs through the hard work and contributions of its members. These are regular activities for us. Bangladesh’s garment exports to the U.S. have seen a significant rise, with export earnings reaching $799.56 million in January 2025—a 45.93% increase compared to January 2024, when exports stood at $547.95 million. The overall apparel imports of the U.S. also grew by 19.5% during this period, contributing to the surge in demand for Bangladeshi garments.

Tarique Rahman has urged political parties to work together to address the pressing issues facing the nation. "We do politics for the people. Today, citizens are suffering the most due to rising prices. Why aren’t politicians debating how to improve market management and increase production?" he questioned. Amirul Master (42), a youth leader of Jubo League in Sathia, Pabna, was brutally stabbed to death by rivals. Following the attack, police arrested two suspects, Imu and Mithun, on the same night. The deceased, Amirul Islam, was the son of Lohai Pramanik from Khetupura village and served as the proposed organizational secretary of the Sathia Upazila Jubo League committee. The suspects, Mehedi Hasan Imu (30) and Shibli Sadiq Mithun (27), were arrested from the home of Kamrul Islam, a ward member of Gaurigram Union, at around 2:30 a.m.

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres and Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, will visit the Rohingya refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar this Friday. During their visit, they will join Rohingya refugees and local Bangladeshi communities for an iftar meal. Excitement is high among the refugees ahead of the event. Guterres is arriving in Bangladesh on a four-day visit starting March 13. On March 14, he will depart for Cox’s Bazar, where he will be welcomed by interim government adviser Faruk-e-Azam Bir Protik.

A Dhaka court has granted permission to interrogate Farzana Rupa, a former chief reporter of Ekattor Television, in connection with the unsolved murder of journalist couple Sagar Sarowar and Meherun Runi. Investigators requested permission on February 27, and Metropolitan Magistrate M.A. Azharul Islam approved the request on March 4. The case's next report submission date is set for April 15.
