The Cyber Crime Unit of the Detective Branch (DB) arrested truck driver Titon Islam on Monday night in connection with a fatal road accident in Banani’s Chairman Bari area. The accident, which occurred early Monday morning, claimed the lives of two pedestrians near the Chairman Bari U-turn. One of the deceased has been identified as Minara Akter, a garment worker, while the other victim remains unidentified. DB officials confirmed the arrest, stating that further legal proceedings are underway.

According to a report by the Human Rights Support Society, at least 305 Bangladeshis have been killed by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) over the past decade, with another 282 injured. The report details annual fatalities: 43 in 2015, 28 in 2016, 30 in 2017, 15 in 2018, 42 in 2019, 51 in 2020, 17 in 2021, 23 in 2022, 30 in 2023, and 26 in 2024.
