The Dhaka WASA Diploma Engineers Association (DWDEA) has announced its new 25-member central executive committee for the 2026–2027 term. A Chattogram court has sentenced Mujibul Haque Chowdhury, chairman of Chambal Union in Banshkhali and Awami League convener, to seven years in prison in a corruption case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). Police in Savar have arrested a madrasa student named Ibrahim in connection with the death of his classmate Golam Rahim, aged 13. The incident occurred at the Sawtul Quran Madrasa in the Jadur Char area of Hemayetpur. According to the report, the two students engaged in a verbal dispute on Wednesday night that escalated into a physical fight, leaving Rahim seriously injured. The incident highlights a tragic outcome of a conflict between two young students within a religious educational institution in Savar.

Five people, including a school student and a woman, were killed by lightning strikes in three districts on Thursday. The incidents occurred in Munshiganj, Chuadanga, and Maheshpur of Jhenaidah. In Munshiganj’s Tongibari upazila, two young men, Rizwan Dhali and Arafat Khan, died after being struck by lightning during a nor’wester storm. Both were taken to Tongibari Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared them dead.

In Chuadanga, two people, including a ninth-grade student, died in separate lightning incidents.
