Philippe Lazzarini, head of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, condemned Israel’s military actions in Gaza, describing the area as a graveyard for children and starving civilians. He highlighted the brutal tactics and escalating attacks causing severe food shortages and widespread hunger. Recent bombings, including one at Halimah Al-Sadiyyah School in northern Gaza, have resulted in many deaths, including children. According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, over 57,000 have died and more than 137,000 injured amid ongoing conflict.
At least 798 people have been killed while attempting to collect humanitarian aid in Gaza, the UN Office for Human Rights has reported.
As of July 7, 615 of the reported deaths occurred near distribution centers operated by the U.S.-Israel-led Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), with the remaining casualties taking place around UN and other aid centers. The UN has raised concerns that the GHF's operations are bypassing its own humanitarian aid distribution system, calling it a violation of humanitarian principles. While the GHF denies any fatalities occurred at its centers, the UN's report contradicts that claim.

An Israeli soldier from the elite Golani Brigade took his own life at the Sde Teiman military base after returning from combat in Gaza. According to Haaretz, the soldier was under investigation by military police and had been ordered to surrender his weapon. However, he used a friend’s firearm to commit suicide. Sources suggest the soldier was mentally distressed following the death of a close comrade in the war. Since the start of the Gaza conflict, suicides among Israeli soldiers have risen, with 21 reported cases in 2024 alone.

Despite ongoing ceasefire negotiations, Israeli forces launched a deadly airstrike Thursday morning on a medical aid point in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza, killing at least 15 people, including 10 children.
Victims were waiting in line for medical and nutritional assistance. While Israel claimed it was targeting Hamas members, it expressed regret over civilian casualties. Mediators including the U.S. and Qatar continue to face hurdles in brokering a ceasefire due to unresolved issues between the warring sides.

As part of ongoing ceasefire negotiations mediated by Qatar and the U.S., Hamas has agreed to release 10 Israeli hostages. However, the group stated that talks remain difficult due to Israel’s rigid stance. Hamas emphasized its willingness to cooperate in exchange for an end to hostilities and the establishment of secure and dignified humanitarian aid flows.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military confirmed that a potential deal may include the return of 10 live hostages and the bodies of 9 others. Despite talks, Israeli airstrikes in Gaza continued, killing 74 people on Wednesday.

The US has pledged $30 million to the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) for food relief, despite prior warnings from USAID about the group's lack of safety planning and transparency. USAID criticized GHF’s handling of infant formula distribution and incomplete documentation. Several Palestinians have died near food centers run under Israeli and US contractor oversight. While the US claims the program weakens Hamas, over 240 global NGOs have called for GHF's shutdown, citing risks to civilians and inadequate humanitarian standards.
Israeli airstrikes killed 52 more Palestinians in Gaza over the past 24 hours, pushing the total death toll to approximately 57,575 since the conflict began. Another 262 people were injured, bringing the total number of wounded to 136,879. Rescue efforts remain hampered as many bodies are trapped under rubble and inaccessible due to security concerns. Even during the distribution of humanitarian aid, eight people were killed and over 74 injured in the past day alone. Since May 27, at least 766 civilians have died while attempting to receive aid, with over 5,000 others wounded.

More than 700,000 people have been displaced in Gaza since the Israeli military resumed operations in March following the collapse of a ceasefire, according to the United Nations.

A senior Hamas security official has revealed that 95% of the group’s leadership has been killed amid Israel’s ongoing assault on Gaza. Hamas has lost control of nearly 80% of the territory, which is now dominated by gangs and new tribal militias. Key infrastructure, including the Ansar Complex, has been destroyed or looted. Six new armed groups have emerged, further destabilizing the region. The conflict has killed over 57,000 Palestinians and injured more than 136,000 since October 2023.
Illegal Jewish settlers, supported by Israeli police, vandalized the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem. The site, Islam’s third holiest, is increasingly targeted by right-wing Israeli groups who perform religious rituals there under armed protection. Al Jazeera reports that settlers frequently storm the compound, defying restrictions. Israel allows limited non-Muslim access but forbids prayer. Over 200 settlers were involved in a similar incident on June 25. East Jerusalem’s occupation since 1967 remains internationally unrecognized, and tensions continue to escalate.
Violence erupted at a U.S.-backed aid center in Gaza, leaving 743 Palestinians dead, with reports claiming Israeli forces and American-hired personnel fired on civilians. The Global Humanitarian Foundation denied the allegations. Witnesses described chaos as desperate families sought food. Meanwhile, Israeli airstrikes across Gaza killed dozens more, including displaced persons sheltering in homes and tents. Despite ongoing ceasefire talks mediated by Qatar, the U.S., and Egypt, the attacks persist, worsening the humanitarian crisis in the besieged territory.
Israeli forces have started demolishing more than 100 residential buildings in the Al-Murabba’a area of the Tulkarem refugee camp in the occupied West Bank. Despite a temporary halt ordered by Israel’s Supreme Court, demolitions resumed citing urgent security needs. Meanwhile, Gaza has seen escalating violence with the Palestinian Health Ministry reporting over 100 deaths and 350 injuries in 24 hours. Since March, Israeli strikes have killed nearly 7,000 Palestinians and injured tens of thousands, with thousands still trapped under rubble.
