Sargis Alam was injured while trying to save a child from a moving private car near the British Council in Dhaka University area. He was taken to DMCH emergency department at 9:30 PM on February 5. He suffered injuries to his left eye and head. Doctors said he received stitches on a minor cut near his left eye.
At 10:45 PM, students set fire to Sudha Sadan, Sheikh Hasina’s residence in Dhanmondi 5. The enraged students declared they do not want any trace of fascism that is involved in student killings to remain in Bangladesh. They are demanding Hasina be brought back to the country and punished.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Standing Committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, and Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman’s representative Barrister Zaima Rahman met with David Beasley, a key figure in organizing the ‘National Prayer Breakfast’ and Governor of South Carolina. Beasley, former president of the Republican Governors Association and Nobel Peace Prize winner for his humanitarian work in Syria, Yemen, and Afghanistan, is currently a candidate for World Bank President.
At 10:50 PM, a crane arrived at Dhanmondi 32. A student procession was in front and behind the crane. Chants of ‘Tear it down!’ echoed as the crane stood in front of the house. Students and online activists participating in the movement announced that destruction would take place at 32 during the exact time Hasina delivers her speech. People had already gathered by 8 PM and started vandalizing. By 9 PM, fire had broken out! Hasnat Abdullah wrote, ‘Tonight, Bangladesh will be freed from the pilgrimage site of fascism.’
In Khulna, bulldozers demolished Sheikh Hasina’s uncle’s house. The Khulna City Corporation began the demolition at 9 PM on Wednesday. This ‘Sheikh House’ of former MP Sheikh Helal had long been a key center of politics on this side of the Padma River.
In Kushtia, the house of Mahbub Ul Alam Hanif, former MP and Joint General Secretary of Awami League, was bulldozed at 10 PM on Wednesday.
In protest of fascist Hasina’s participation in the virtual congress of the banned Chhatra League, students have resumed vandalism and arson at Dhanmondi 32. The ‘Long March to Dhanmondi 32’ program began at 9 PM, drawing more people, and the entire structure is being torn down. A previous arson attack occurred on August 5. The students declared they do not want any fascist remnants in Bangladesh. Another slogan rang out: “Delhi or Dhaka, Dhaka Dhaka!”
Armed criminals have abducted five farmers from the foothills of Teknaf. The kidnapped individuals are Hasan Ali, Tayef Ullah, Md. Yusuf, Md. Ferdous, and Kofil Uddin. They have yet to be rescued. The police stated that although an operation was launched, immediate rescue was not possible as they were taken deep into the jungle.

Tarique Rahman has warned against delaying and prolonging interim government reforms as part of a conspiracy. Speaking virtually at an event that provided financial aid to the families of 45 martyrs killed in the July-August revolution in Feni, Noakhali, and Lakshmipur, as well as housing for a Jubo Dal leader shot by RAB, he stated that the authoritarian Sheikh Hasina has orchestrated countless abductions, killings, and destruction. He stressed that justice must be served at all costs and that the struggle of the past 17 years must continue. He further noted that BNP, being a party that cares for the people, had already proposed a 31-point agenda two and a half years ago.
Facing heavy losses, North Korea withdrew its troops from Russia’s Kursk battlefield in January, according to South Korean claims. Reports suggest that around 10,000 North Korean soldiers were deployed, with over 300 killed and 2,700 either injured or captured. Police have arrested six people, including the Upazila Volunteer League secretary, in Thakurgaon for distributing Awami League leaflets. Reports suggest that when locals questioned the police about the reason for the arrests, they were beaten by law enforcement. Several individuals, including a Jatiya Party leader, were injured. The OC claimed that the arrested individuals had attempted robbery, and the police had to intervene to prevent it.
Police have arrested Nazrul Shikdar and Anup Bagchi in connection with the theft of three skeletons, including that of a local council member, from a cemetery in Kotalipara, Gopalganj. Six graves had been dug up, and villagers discovered that three were missing their skeletons. Describing the incident as tragic and unprecedented, the cemetery authorities confirmed that a case had been filed with the police.
Police have arrested dismissed lecturer Tabassum Tamanna following a case filed by a leader of the anti-discrimination student movement. Previously, Tamanna staged a hunger strike in front of the Burimari police station, demanding the removal of the principal and the Upazila Executive Officer. During the protest, she allegedly assaulted the Officer-in-Charge (OC) and attacked a police vehicle. In response, students surrounded the police station demanding her arrest.
Jaima Rahman has arrived in Washington, D.C., from London to attend the National Prayer Breakfast in the United States. She is the granddaughter of the martyred President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, as well as the daughter of BNP Chairperson Tarique Rahman, whom she will be representing at the event. Other invitees include Mirza Fakhrul Islam and Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury. The event will feature speeches from Donald Trump and the presence of U.S. senators and congress members.
