A clash over cattle smuggling in Ramu, Cox's Bazar, on Monday afternoon resulted in the death of Md. Nabi (48), son of the late Ali Akbar from Pashchim Goniakata. Local sources reported that a dispute over cattle smuggling escalated into gunfire between Md. Nabi and his cousins—Md. Hasan, Hossain, Sani, and Hanif. Md. Nabi was shot dead on the spot by his rivals.

In a brutal incident on Eid day, five family members, including the father, uncle, and cousin of a schoolgirl, were attacked with sharp weapons inside their home in Bhanga, Faridpur. The attackers, enraged by the family’s protest against eve-teasing, also vandalized the house and looted valuables. A week before the attack, a 17-year-old SSC candidate from Algi Union was harassed by three local youths—Siam Molla (19), Rifat Molla (20), and Sakib Molla (22)—while on her way to private tutoring. When the girl reported the incident to her parents, they confronted the harassers’ families. This enraged the accused, who later launched a two-phase attack on the girl’s family, leaving five members injured.

On Eid day, under the directive of BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, Eid gifts were distributed among the injured protesters of the July 24 uprising who are currently undergoing treatment in hospitals. On behalf of the Association of Engineers, Bangladesh, BNP central leader Aminul Haque personally handed over Eid gifts to 160 patients at the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedic Rehabilitation (Pangu Hospital) and the National Institute of Ophthalmology and Hospital. Aminul Haque assured that the families of those killed or injured in the uprising are not alone. He reiterated that if BNP comes to power through public mandate, the government will provide full support to the families of the martyrs and the injured.

According to the official Facebook page of the Bangladesh Army, Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman visited the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) and various military camps on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. Rebel groups have accused the military of continuing airstrikes even after the earthquake, further exacerbating the crisis.

Israel has proposed a 50-day ceasefire in Gaza in exchange for the release of half of the hostages held by Hamas. An imam in Taltoli, Barguna, was attacked with a large knife during Eid-ul-Fitr prayers. Worshippers apprehended the assailant, Masum, and handed him over to the police. Masum claimed he sought revenge for a past incident involving his girlfriend, whom he had entrusted to a friend, only for her to be allegedly dishonored. Determined to retaliate, he had a knife custom-made for the attack. However, the targeted individual, Imam Imran Hossain, revealed that Masum had a history of theft and bore a grudge after being caught stealing a mobile phone during his madrasa days.
