A Jubo Dal leader, Jamal Hossain Rana, has been arrested in Mirpur for extortion. The joint forces apprehended him while he was allegedly collecting illegal tolls from vendors at the Mirpur-6 marketplace. According to reports, he was aggressively trying to seize control of the local fish market and its traders' association. When a trader refused to pay, Rana reportedly threatened him. He then allegedly attacked the traders with local weapons. Business owners have confirmed these allegations.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam has declared that no elections will take place before the national polls. He made this statement after a meeting with the Chief Adviser on Monday. Police have arrested Khorshed Alam Chowdhury, president of the Lohagara Upazila Awami League and former Upazila chairman, in connection with attacks on an anti-discrimination student movement. He was taken into custody from his home on Monday at 3 PM. Lohagara Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Arifur Rahman stated that Chowdhury faces three cases related to the violent crackdown on peaceful protests. Aleya Begum, a female inmate, died at Rajbari District Prison on Sunday night around 9 PM. She was pronounced dead at Rajbari Sadar Hospital. According to prison authorities, she was a resident of the Goalanda upazila and had been arrested on January 23 in a drug-related case. On Sunday night, she suddenly experienced severe chest pain, and despite being rushed to the emergency ward, doctors declared her dead. Her body has been sent for an autopsy.

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Mohammad Abdul Momen has vowed to bring back high-profile corruption suspects who have fled to neighboring countries and put them on trial. Speaking at the inauguration of a training program for ACC officials, he identified government procurement as a major source of corruption. A boat carrying 65 migrants has sunk off the coast of Libya, according to Pakistan's Foreign Ministry.
