Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained 15 Bangladeshis, including women and children, attempting to illegally cross into India from Maheshpur. The arrests were made during routine patrols in Kanchanpur and Khosalpur. Separately, BGB recovered 48 bottles of Indian liquor from a raid in Polianpur. The detained women and children have been transferred to the Jessore Justice & Care Center.
On Sunday, the Ziaur Rahman Foundation distributed Eid gifts and greetings from Tarique Rahman to two families of martyrs in Paikgacha, Khulna. Amirul Islam Kagzi, director of the foundation, personally handed over the gifts to the blind father and younger sister of martyr Rakibul Islam in Kalidapur village and to the family of martyr Nabi Nur Moral in Srikantopur village.

To commemorate Independence Day on March 26, 2025, designated Bangladesh Navy ships will be open for public visits in Dhaka, Narayanganj, Chattogram, Khulna, Mongla, Barishal, and Chandpur from 12 PM to 4 PM. Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus is set to visit China for a three-day official trip this week, and major announcements are anticipated. Adviser Asif Mahmud announced that a traditional Eid procession will be reintroduced in Dhaka to enhance the festive spirit. He noted that such processions were held during the Sultanate and British periods but have since faded. The Dhaka North City Corporation is organizing the initiative. Mahmud emphasized that modern Eid celebrations lack communal activities beyond the congregational prayer. Benapole Land Port will remain closed for nine consecutive days from March 29 to April 5 due to Eid-ul-Fitr and weekly holidays. However, passport-holding travelers can still cross the border. Customs and port activities will resume on April 6. Although official guidelines suggest limited trade activities on government and weekly holidays, Benapole and other customs houses typically shut down completely as workers go on leave.
Sharmin Ahmad, daughter of Tajuddin Ahmad, claimed that Sheikh Mujibur Rahman fled on March 25, 1971, leaving his party members in danger, just as Sheikh Hasina has done. Following an Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) request, a court has ordered the seizure of former state minister Meher Afroze Chumki’s 3,115-square-foot apartment in Banani and the freezing of five bank accounts. These accounts hold a total of BDT 2.32 crore. ACC Assistant Director Minhaj Bin Islam filed the petition, which was subsequently approved by the court.
Poet Abdul Hai Sikder has filed a defamation case against Mahbub Morshed, the Managing Director of the Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), along with two others. The court recorded the plaintiff’s statement and issued summons for the accused to appear on April 28. The other two accused are Khairul Alam and Asaduzzaman Asad, the latter being identified as a financial backer of the Awami League. Sikder alleged that the defendants made a false Facebook post claiming he had written poems in support of former dictator Ershad, linking Khaleda Zia and Sheikh Hasina. “This is a complete fabrication. I have sought legal recourse to restore my honor,” he said.
Army Headquarters has confirmed that the meeting between Army Chief General Wakar-Uz-Zaman, Hasnat Abdullah, and Sargis Alam on March 11 was initiated by Hasnat and Sargis. The headquarters stated, "The proposal for forming a 'Refined Awami League' was expressed as a personal opinion by the Army Chief. While he suggested that a competitive and widely accepted election would be beneficial, he also emphasized that the government and all political parties should collectively decide on the matter. There was no pressure from his side." The headquarters also dismissed Hasnat Abdullah's social media post as "purely political stunt."
