The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against former minister Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, accusing him of amassing illegal wealth worth over Tk 35 crore and conducting suspicious transactions exceeding Tk 100 crore. ACC Director General Akhter Hossain confirmed the development. Reports suggest that Hossain currently resides in Switzerland. His son, Khandaker Mashroor Hossain Mitu, is the former husband of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s daughter, Saima Wazed Putul. Mosharraf Hossain was elected MP three times under the Awami League banner.

Ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, preparations are underway to ensure smooth travel. At a coordination meeting chaired by BRTA Chairman Md. The Jatiyo Muktijoddha Council (JAMUKA) has initiated field-level hearings to identify individuals who have fraudulently obtained freedom fighter status. The first phase includes hearings for 31 individuals from the Comilla region, scheduled for today at 10:00 AM at the Comilla Circuit House. Participants, including local officials and witnesses, will present evidence regarding the accused's involvement in the Liberation War. This initiative follows directives from the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs to verify the authenticity of freedom fighter certificates amid allegations of widespread fraud.

Gazipur BNP convener Fazlul Haque Milon has criticized the government’s approach to elections, saying that true development cannot be achieved through mere pageantry. He urged for national elections to be held by December to ensure democracy and public welfare. "The people want to see Ziaur Rahman's vision of a welfare state fulfilled by voting for the paddy sheaf symbol," Milon stated. He denounced past one-sided elections under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and said BNP activists must reach out to the people to implement Tarique Rahman's 31-point reform plan.

Air raid sirens blared in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem following a missile launch from Yemen. In response, all flights at Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion International Airport were suspended. According to The Times of Israel, a missile fired from Yemen was en route to Ben Gurion Airport but was successfully intercepted mid-air. Mehr News reported hearing explosions in Tel Aviv after the attack. Since the violation of the ceasefire in Gaza, Yemen’s armed forces have reportedly launched at least 43 missiles towards Israeli-occupied territories.

Three top leaders of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement (BAISHA) in Barishal have resigned, accusing the organization of deviating from its core principles. The resigning members include chief organizer Hasibul Islam Turan, joint convener Touhidul Islam Abid, and member Tahasin Ahmed Ratul. They claimed that BAISHA has transformed into an anti-public platform that contradicts the ideals of the July uprising. They also alleged that many Barishal district leaders are engaged in misconduct, and about 50% of BAISHA activists are affiliated with other political parties.

With the next general election approaching, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish is finalizing its list of candidates for all 300 parliamentary seats. The party aims to complete the process by June 21. According to an official announcement on the Health and Family Welfare Ministry’s website, the Directorate General of Health Services has launched an emergency program to distribute health cards to those injured in the July mass uprising. Health cards prepared for various districts have already been sent to the respective Civil Surgeons. Each Civil Surgeon is instructed to appoint a designated representative to ensure prompt delivery of the cards to injured individuals. The initiative is currently underway in 36 districts, covering 4,551 injured persons. The health cards will allow recipients to receive essential medical services either free of charge or at discounted rates.

Continuous heavy rainfall and upstream mountain streams from India’s Tripura state have caused severe flooding in low-lying border areas of Akhaura upazila in Brahmanbaria. The floodwaters have submerged parts of Mogra, Moniond, and Dakshin unions. Local authorities have initiated emergency response measures. Chowdhury Ashiq Mahmood, Chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), has expressed optimism over investment prospects as a large delegation of Chinese business leaders is currently visiting Bangladesh. This initiative coincides with the government’s ongoing work to establish a dedicated Chinese Economic Zone in the country. He also confirmed that BEZA has signed a bilateral Memorandum of Understanding with China for cooperation in the power sector, and another MoU has been signed for an agriculture-based project in Chandpur.

Zonayed Saki, leader of Ganosamhati Andolon, stated that it is perfectly normal for political parties to demand elections. He warned that portraying such demands as part of an “Indian agenda” is a dangerous narrative. “There’s nothing criminal about demanding elections,” Saki said. “If elections are not held by December, the government must clearly explain why to the public. Without a specific date, many necessary reforms cannot proceed. While there is consensus on several reform issues, others can be resolved through discussion.” In the same event, AB Party President Mojibur Rahman Monju added, “The government failed to unite us or present a clear political roadmap.
