Kamrul Ahsan Sadhan, Joint Secretary of the BNP’s Gulshan unit, was shot dead in a brazen attack at Gudaraghat in Middle Badda shortly after midnight on Sunday. The incident took place near the house of former commissioner Kayum. Eyewitnesses said two assailants suddenly appeared and opened fire indiscriminately. Sadhan was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival. Police have not yet confirmed the identity of the attackers.

Five members of the anti-discrimination student movement in Mymensingh officially joined the BNP’s student wing, Chhatra Dal, on Saturday night. They were welcomed with floral greetings by newly appointed leaders of the central and city chapters of Chhatra Dal. The new members include district organizer Kawsar Hasan, city unit spokesperson Rishadul Alam, and members Fardeen Alam, Nami Ahmed, and Bandhan Rahman. City Chhatra Dal president Gobinda Roy said, “They were active fighters against fascism and embraced the ideals of nationalism. We are proud to welcome them into our ranks.”

According to Hamas’ media office, Israeli forces have now taken control of 77% of Gaza. Hamas alleges that Israeli troops are displacing civilians through airstrikes to seize land. The armed wings of Hamas and Islamic Jihad claim to have carried out bombings, anti-tank rocket attacks, and guerrilla operations against Israeli forces in various parts of Gaza. Reports indicate that the latest Israeli strikes targeted Khan Younis in the south, Jabalia in the north, and Nuseirat in central Gaza. The renewed attacks have killed at least 23 people, including journalists and rescue workers.

In India’s Uttar Pradesh, four Muslim youths were brutally assaulted by members of a so-called "cow protection" group over suspicion of transporting beef. Three of the victims are reportedly in critical condition. A disturbing video shows the attackers stripping the victims and beating them nearly naked with rods, sticks, bricks, and bladed weapons. Despite the graphic nature of the incident, no arrests have been made. Police stated that meat samples from the vehicle have been collected for testing, and all allegations are being investigated.

A team from the Detective Branch (DB) of Narsingdi police came under attack during a raid targeting drug dealers and illegal gambling networks in Belabo upazila. Six DB officers were injured, and the microbus carrying them was vandalized. Police have filed a case naming 10 individuals, including Sintaj Mohammad Salman, the son of the chairman of Binnabaid Union Parishad. An additional 40 to 50 unidentified individuals have also been accused in connection with the attack.

At least eight people, including a woman, were injured in a clash between Awami League and BNP supporters in Nawarkandi, Nawabganj, reportedly stemming from a longstanding political rivalry. According to injured local resident Md. Jafar, Awami League loyalists had filed a false case a month ago, leading to the arrest of his father and brother. After they were released on bail and returned home on Sunday, one of them went out for a haircut when a group of 15-20 Awami League supporters launched a sudden attack with sharp weapons.

Mujibur Rahman, a 20-year-old student leader of the July uprising and Joint General Secretary of the Cox’s Bazar Union unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, has been missing for six days. His family has searched hospitals, police stations, and nearby areas, but no trace has been found. According to a general diary filed with the police, Mujibur left his home on the morning of May 19 to go to his computer shop in Dhechuapalong but has not been seen since.

Chattogram Metropolitan Detective Police have seized 20,300 military-style uniforms allegedly produced for the separatist group Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF). Three individuals were arrested: Shahedul Islam, owner of Ringvo Apparels; Golam Azam; and Niaz Haider — the latter two had secured a contract worth Tk 2 crore in March to produce the uniforms. The seizure took place on May 17.

BNP leader Aminul Haque criticized certain advisers in the interim government, comparing their fear of elections to that of dictators. “We don’t understand why you are so afraid of elections. People and BNP activists have supported you with high expectations,” Haque said. “But every time elections are mentioned, you seem disturbed — hiding behind calls for reform and new excuses.” He also criticized a certain group for blaming the BNP for every national issue, while asserting that BNP is genuinely working for the welfare of the people. “If the 31-point reform plan is implemented properly, all state institutions can be thoroughly restructured,” he concluded.

An injured participant in the July uprising has blamed political parties that came to power after the mass movement for the tragic deaths of his four brothers, who took their own lives by consuming poison. “I hold the post-uprising political parties responsible. Secondly, I blame the government that rose to power on the backs of our sacrifices,” he stated. “They should have ensured proper medical treatment and rehabilitation for those injured in the uprising.” He further criticized the authorities, noting, “Ten months have passed, yet fewer than 50 injured individuals have been sent abroad for treatment out of more than 22,000 wounded. We even pleaded with the Chief Adviser, saying our limbs are rotting, please save us. Though he brought doctors within three days, it felt like eyewash.” The statement came after four young men, all of whom lost their eyesight during the July protests and are currently admitted to the National Institute of Ophthalmology, attempted suicide by ingesting poison during a meeting at the hospital director’s office on Sunday afternoon.

The "July Alliance" staged a protest in Shahbagh, calling for national unity and resistance against alleged Indian conspiracies in Bangladesh. BNP leader Habibur Rahman Habib demanded justice for those responsible for the killings in July and urged unity to overthrow the fascist regime. Jamaat-e-Islami’s Delwar Hossain said, “Despite forming an interim government based on the blood of martyrs, the killers have not been prosecuted.” Ariful Islam Adib of the NCP claimed that India’s dominance began with the Pilkhana massacre. “Those who align with India will be sent straight across the border by the people,” he warned.

After a series of consultations with the Chief Adviser, political leaders presented a range of proposals. Former CPB President Mujahidul Islam Selim stressed the need for reforms based on public opinion. Revolutionary Workers Party Secretary Saiful Haque warned that the Chief Adviser’s resignation could worsen the current crisis and urged that strategic sectors like ports and corridors be brought under political consensus. Ganosamhati Andolan's Zonayed Saki described the situation as extremely challenging for governance. AB Party’s Mojibur Rahman Bhuiyan Manju demanded elections be held by February 5. Mufti Rezaul Karim, Amir of Islami Andolan Bangladesh, called for foundational reforms and the announcement of an electoral roadmap. Nurul Haque Nur, President of Gana Adhikar Parishad, urged action against controversial advisers and called for full cooperation from the military and administrative bodies.

Home Affairs Adviser Jahangir Alam has assured that all sacrificial waste from Eid-ul-Adha will be removed within 12 hours. “We’re also committed to ensuring fair prices for raw hides, which are a rightful asset of the poor,” he said. “We’ve discussed that the current 5% market toll is too high. Although we couldn’t reduce it this time, we’re working to bring it down to no more than 3% in the future.” This year, 20 designated cattle markets will be set up across the two city corporations of Dhaka. “No animals will be allowed on the streets, and Ansar personnel will be deployed to maintain law and order,” the Adviser added.

The National Unity and Solidarity Council has proposed forming a national government with Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus as President and BNP's acting chairman Tarique Rahman as Prime Minister. At a press briefing, Council leader Nazimul Haque laid out a detailed power-sharing structure: Dr. Badiul Alam Majumdar as Vice President, and Jamaat-e-Islami chief Dr. Shafiqur Rahman as Deputy Prime Minister. The proposed cabinet includes only Ministers of State and Deputy Ministers, allocated proportionally: 25% from BNP, 20% from Jamaat, 15% from NCP, 5% from Islami Andolon, 10% designated for prominent individuals, and 25% from other political parties.

Speaking at a roadside rally in Lohagara, Chattogram, NCP leader Hasnat Abdullah declared that the current constitution has been manipulated by the Awami League to institutionalize fascism. “We must reform this Awami-made constitution urgently,” he stated. Abdullah called for a future Bangladesh shaped by a blend of political wisdom from the past and the aspirations of the youth. He warned against sidelining the younger generation and emphasized that the fall of fascism was led by student movements and opposition parties. “The trial of the Awami League must come first,” he concluded, stressing unity in times of national crisis.
