Advocate Abdul Bari Bhuiyan, General Secretary of BNP’s Fatullah unit, has filed a treason case against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and ten others—including three former Chief Election Commissioners—accusing them of fraud, conspiracy, and voterless elections in the last three national polls. The court has accepted the plea and ordered police to submit an investigation report.

Islamic Chhatra Shibir, Inquilab Manch, July Unity, and others have expressed solidarity with the protest in front of the Chief Adviser’s residence, demanding a ban on the Awami League. Shibir leaders vowed not to let the July movement falter. “Our goal is the final revolution,” declared their central president.

At a high-level meeting of the National Consensus Commission, Chief Adviser and Commission Chair Professor Muhammad Yunus praised political parties for their positive stance on reforms. The meeting reviewed overall progress and urged swift finalization of the next phase of dialogue with political stakeholders.

Sarjis Alam criticized Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, claiming his speeches sometimes reflect “extreme communal tones.” He urged both India and Pakistan to avoid war and religious incitement. “India made the first strike,” he added, emphasizing that any such accusations must be substantiated with evidence in international courts and forums.

Multiple drone attacks have been reported in Jammu’s Akhnoor, Samba, and Kathua areas. Pakistani drones reportedly used loitering munitions—drones equipped with warheads that target specific locations. Indian air defense responded with counterfire. Witnesses near Jammu airport counted at least 16 fallen objects. Sirens blared as markets closed and the city plunged into a blackout.

In response to the announcement of banning Jubo League and Swechchhasebak League, NCP Convenor Nahid Islam criticized the move as a distraction. “This charade is unacceptable. The Awami League itself must be declared a terrorist and fascist organization and banned. The ICT law must be amended to allow prosecution of political parties,” he demanded.

Adviser Asif Mahmud announced that the Awami League’s affiliate groups Jubo League and Swechchhasebak League are on the verge of being banned. “All formalities have been completed,” he stated. He reiterated that the July uprising is committed to politically erasing the Awami League and its affiliates.

On the second day of the conclave, thick white smoke from the Sistine Chapel chimney signaled the election of a new Pope. Cardinal Robert Prevost from the United States has been chosen and will be known as Pope Leo XIV. Thousands of pilgrims erupted in applause at St. Peter’s Square as the chapel bells rang, officially ending the election process. Former U.S. President Trump called the historic election of an American pope a "great honor" for the nation.

In response to Hasnat Abdullah’s call, student groups and civilians broke through police barricades and began a sit-in protest at the Chief Adviser’s residence, Jamuna, demanding a ban on the Awami League. Protesters are urging for justice and political prohibition of what they call a fascist party.

Mir Mahbubur Rahman Snigdh, brother of martyr Mughdha and CEO of July Memorial Foundation, has resigned from his post to focus on higher studies. Following a board meeting chaired by Professor Muhammad Yunus, Snigdh confirmed he would continue serving as a member of the foundation’s governing body. He stated he has no intention of entering politics.

The High Court has granted bail to Shaharin Islam Tuhin, nephew of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, in a graft case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). His lawyer, Hasan Rajib Pradhan, said the court issued bail due to the pending status of his appeal. Tuhin surrendered on June 29 last year and was denied bail by the trial court. He was convicted in 2008 for tax evasion and illegal wealth accumulation, receiving a total of eight years' rigorous imprisonment.

NCP leader Nahid Islam has called on all citizens to join the street movement against the Awami League, accusing the authorities of stalling justice. “We promised justice in July. The fascists must never return to power,” he said. He emphasized that protests will not end until a clear roadmap for banning the Awami League and revoking its registration is announced. “Let tonight be the night of resolution,” Nahid declared.

BNP leader Shamsuzzaman Dudu emphasized that early elections are essential for national stability. "The sooner elections are held, the better for the country. It will prevent chaos and also preserve your honor," he said, addressing the government. He also praised Begum Khaleda Zia, calling her a symbol of global democratic struggle, and criticized the government for barring Tarique Rahman’s return and causing the death of Koko. Dudu mockingly referred to a new political figure as a “new dervish” involved in a 400-crore embezzlement scandal, calling him a replacement for the old one.

Hasnat Abdullah, Chief Organizer of NCP (South Region), declared a sit-in protest in front of the Chief Adviser’s residence, Jamuna, starting at 10 PM tonight. He stated that the protest will continue until there is a clear roadmap to try and ban the Awami League for its alleged crimes. “We will not align with anyone who fails to explicitly demand the prohibition of the genocidal Awami League,” he wrote. Notably, former President Abdul Hamid, accused in a murder case, reportedly fled the country last night.

The Youth Rights Council has issued a 48-hour ultimatum demanding the resignation of the Home Affairs Adviser over the departure of former President Abdul Hamid, who left the country at 3:05 a.m. on Thursday despite facing a murder case. In a memorandum to the Chief Adviser, the group questioned how such a high-profile exit could occur under the adviser's watch. If no explanation or action follows within the deadline, they threatened nationwide protests to demand his resignation and labeled the interim government as responsible.
