BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia celebrated Eid with her family after a long time and later exchanged virtual Eid greetings with BNP leaders from London on Monday night. Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman also participated, along with senior leaders including Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, and others.

A clash erupted between Awami League and BNP supporters in Lalpur, Natore, after Eid prayers when "Joy Bangla" slogans were chanted. Awami League members allegedly opened fire, injuring a Chhatra Dal supporter, Sujat Mondal (30). Journalist Tushar Imran (22), along with three others, was also injured. A raid on the house of Awami League leader Abu Bakkar Siddique Polash led to the arrest of nine individuals.

A 24-year-old youth, Riyad Hossain, succumbed to injuries at Kurmitola General Hospital after being beaten by a mob in Pallabi, Mirpur. Riyad was caught red-handed attempting to mug someone under Mirpur 12 Metro Station late Sunday night. A patrolling army team later handed him over to the police, where he died under medical supervision on Monday morning.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended Eid greetings to Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus through a letter on Monday. He also conveyed his wishes to the people of Bangladesh, highlighting the shared observance of Ramadan by 200 million Indians. Modi emphasized the values of compassion, generosity, and unity and expressed hopes for strengthened ties between the two nations.

During an Eid greeting exchange at the NCP office in Banglamotor on Monday, convenor Nahid Islam stated that their movement is focused on three agendas: justice, reform, and national assembly elections. He emphasized that ensuring justice for wrongdoers is the top priority. Nahid also announced plans to strengthen organizational activities nationwide.

A clash over cattle smuggling in Ramu, Cox's Bazar, on Monday afternoon resulted in the death of Md. Nabi (48), son of the late Ali Akbar from Pashchim Goniakata. Local sources reported that a dispute over cattle smuggling escalated into gunfire between Md. Nabi and his cousins—Md. Hasan, Hossain, Sani, and Hanif. Md. Nabi was shot dead on the spot by his rivals.

In a brutal incident on Eid day, five family members, including the father, uncle, and cousin of a schoolgirl, were attacked with sharp weapons inside their home in Bhanga, Faridpur. The attackers, enraged by the family’s protest against eve-teasing, also vandalized the house and looted valuables. A week before the attack, a 17-year-old SSC candidate from Algi Union was harassed by three local youths—Siam Molla (19), Rifat Molla (20), and Sakib Molla (22)—while on her way to private tutoring. When the girl reported the incident to her parents, they confronted the harassers’ families. This enraged the accused, who later launched a two-phase attack on the girl’s family, leaving five members injured.

On Eid day, under the directive of BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, Eid gifts were distributed among the injured protesters of the July 24 uprising who are currently undergoing treatment in hospitals. On behalf of the Association of Engineers, Bangladesh, BNP central leader Aminul Haque personally handed over Eid gifts to 160 patients at the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedic Rehabilitation (Pangu Hospital) and the National Institute of Ophthalmology and Hospital. Aminul Haque assured that the families of those killed or injured in the uprising are not alone. He reiterated that if BNP comes to power through public mandate, the government will provide full support to the families of the martyrs and the injured.

According to the official Facebook page of the Bangladesh Army, Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman visited the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) and various military camps on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. His visits included SBP, OSP, SGP, CMH Dhaka, and several other army installations. During his visits, he exchanged Eid greetings with army personnel and participated in a festive meal. Additionally, the army chief distributed Eid gifts to families affected by the recent fire incident in Bhashantek.

The death toll from the 7.7-magnitude earthquake in Myanmar has surpassed 2,000, with over 3,400 injured and more than 200 people still missing. A long-standing land dispute in Bahubal, Habiganj, led to a violent clash after Eid prayers, leaving ten people—including women—injured. Local elders had attempted multiple reconciliations between the families involved, but tensions flared again over a minor disagreement. The police have arrested four individuals connected to the incident.

After Eid prayers at Tangail Central Eidgah, BNP’s Publicity Secretary Sultan Salahuddin Tuku declared, "We will rebuild the nation alongside anti-fascist forces." He accused the ruling party of 17 years of extreme oppression and celebrated its downfall. Over 1,313 Eid prayer gatherings took place across Tangail.

French far-right politician Marine Le Pen, who is set to run in the 2027 presidential election, has been convicted of embezzling EU funds. This conviction poses a significant hurdle to her candidacy. While the court has yet to announce her sentence, prosecutors have demanded a fine of 300,000 euros and a ban on holding public office for five years.
