The Volaganj Sadapathar Tourist Center in Companyganj Upazila, Sylhet, will reopen from June 6 after an indefinite ban was imposed on May 30 due to safety concerns amid hazardous weather. The ban was initially enforced by the Upazila administration to protect tourists. However, following a unanimous decision by the Upazila Tourism Development Committee, the restriction has been lifted, allowing tourists to safely visit the popular destination once again.

A cattle trader named Hannan was seriously injured after being beaten by volunteers hired by the leaseholder at a temporary cattle market in Molla Bazar, South Keraniganj. The incident occurred when Hannan attempted to leave the market with his cows, leading to an argument. Police intervened, and the attackers allegedly assaulted Inspector Mosharraf Hossain. Tragic Train Crash on Kalurghat Bridge Leaves 10 Dead, Multiple Vehicles Crushed

Three individuals, including a central Awami League leader, were arrested during a police crackdown on sudden flash processions in Dhaka. The arrestees are Humayun Kabir Sujan, Golam Rabbani Sardar, and Mehedi Hasan. Police say they were involved in attempts to disrupt public order and incite fear through unauthorized gatherings. All three face existing charges in various police stations. Law enforcement operations took place in Tikatuli, Mirpur, and Mohammadpur, with legal proceedings currently underway.

The BNP has issued formal warning notices to its Vice Chairmen Barkatullah Bulu and Shamsuzzaman Dudu for making controversial and incoherent remarks. Gold prices have been increased in Bangladesh, as announced by the Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association. The hike, effective from Friday, was decided after reviewing the rise in pure gold prices in the local market. The price of 22-carat hallmarked gold has risen to Tk 14,775 per gram. Meanwhile, ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, gold prices in Dubai also showed a slight increase. The rate of 24-carat gold reached 406 dirhams per gram, with similar upward trends seen in 22, 21, and 18-carat categories.

A 63-year-old widow, Morium Begum, from Uttar Anontoram village in Pirgacha, Rangpur, has filed a complaint accusing a local man, Bulu Master, of trying to seize her remaining 5 percent inherited land. Morium had sold 28 percent of her 33 percent ancestral land to Bulu Master, but he allegedly refuses to hand over the rest. Despite repeated requests, he reportedly abused and threatened her. Police have confirmed initial findings and are working toward resolving the issue.
