The Anti-Discrimination Employees’ Unity Forum has expressed solidarity with the ongoing protest against the newly introduced Secretariat employment ordinance. The forum also condemned the obstruction of its leaders from entering the Secretariat. It accused Cabinet Secretary Sheikh Abdur Rashid, Public Administration Secretary Md. Mokhlesur Rahman, and Home Secretary Nasimul Ghani of derailing the goals of the July Movement after receiving contractual appointments, allegedly with unethical support from controversial adviser Ali Imam Majumder. The forum demanded the cancellation of their appointments.

BNP’s Joint General Secretary Khayrul Kabir Khokon stated that election is now the demand of the general public, the cause of much struggle, lawsuits, attacks, and abductions. There will be no more delays regarding the interim government’s election. The election must be held by December. Khokon also mentioned that during 16 years of Awami League’s misrule, they were unable to freely observe the martyrdom and birth anniversaries of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman. Otherwise, they will take action.

Violence broke out Tuesday night at Rajshahi University during a torch rally organized by the Democratic Student Alliance protesting the acquittal of Jamaat-e-Islami leader ATM Azharul Islam. Allegedly, members of the "Shahbagh Opposition Alliance," reportedly linked to Islami Chhatra Shibir, attacked the rally. The clash left four left-leaning student leaders and one journalist injured. Eyewitnesses said the attack occurred when the opposing group confronted the rally, leading to physical altercations.

For the first time in its history, Bangladesh’s per capita income has reached $2,820, the highest on record, according to preliminary data for the fiscal year 2024–25 from the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS). This marks an increase of $82 from last year’s $2,738. The previous highest was $2,793 in FY 2021–22. BBS clarified that the per capita income figure does not represent individual earnings but is derived from the country's total national income—including domestic production and remittances—divided by the population.

Hill Land Port Meeting: Sarjis Alam said the government collects billions in revenue from Hilli Land Port, which contributes significantly to the national economy. However, local people have long suffered from lack of development. Roads are bad, intercity trains don’t stop at the railway station, and hospitals lack proper doctors. He accused political leaders and syndicates of looting billions without developing the port area. He emphasized that being a leader requires understanding the people’s and workers’ language. The government expects to secure $1 billion in support from Japan, with $500 million earmarked for direct budgetary assistance, according to Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam. The court stressed that such a significant criminal trial lacked the due diligence and fairness required by law, leading to the overturning of Azhar’s conviction and sentence.

According to BIDA, Bangladesh received $756 million in net foreign direct investment (FDI) between October last year and March this year. During this period, BIDA registered 739 industrial projects, including 66 wholly foreign-owned and 61 joint ventures. Additionally, BEZA signed land lease agreements with 16 firms—6 of which are fully foreign-owned and 3 joint ventures. This report comes amid recent claims from some industry players that no investment had arrived in the past eight months.
