The event was chaired by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mahmuda Kulsum Moni and attended by local officials, political leaders from various parties, and teachers and students from local institutions.

The gathering reflected a unified stance among administrative and community representatives to strengthen anti-drug initiatives in the region.

Nur Alam Masud, owner of Satata Oil Mills in Feni’s Sonagazi municipality, died early Saturday at Dhaka Medical College Hospital’s burn unit after suffering severe burns in an explosion. The incident occurred on April 14 when Masud attempted to produce octane using an alternative method learned from YouTube. His colleague, Omar Faruk, was also critically injured and remains under treatment.

According to family members and police, the explosion happened when a pipe burst due to excessive heat during the experiment at the oil mill. Masud’s brother said the temperature went out of control, causing the blast. Police from Sonagazi Model Station visited the site but reported that no formal complaint had been filed as of yet.

Authorities stated that legal action would be taken if a written complaint is submitted. The body of the deceased was sent home after autopsy for burial.

Feni oil mill owner dies after explosion during YouTube-based octane experiment

Actress Rukaiya Jahan Chamak has collected and submitted a nomination form seeking a reserved women’s seat under the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) from the Kushtia-4 constituency. She confirmed the matter to the media after attending an interview with the BNP selection board on April 17, 2026. Minister says continued canal excavation could bring new awakening under Tarique Rahman’s leadership

Police in Saidpur, Nilphamari recovered the hanging body of a female patient named Sathi Akter, aged 28, from a room at a private clinic called Doctors Hospital on Saturday morning. Before police arrived, her husband, Raihanul Islam, and relatives fled the scene. The incident created shock in the local area.

According to hospital sources, Sathi was brought by ambulance from the 100-bed Saidpur Hospital around 5 a.m. and admitted to the private clinic, where nurses continued her previous treatment. Nurse Zahida Begum said the husband stayed briefly, left to bring breakfast, returned once, and then went out again, leaving the patient alone. During a routine check, staff found the room locked from inside and later discovered her hanging from a ceiling fan with a scarf.

Police sent the body for autopsy at Nilphamari General Hospital and confirmed that an investigation and legal procedures are underway.

Finance Ministry opens 23 posts at Customs Training Academy, apply by May 10

Thirty people were injured in a clash between two factions of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in Saltha upazila of Faridpur on Friday night. The violence erupted in Balia Bazar and nearby areas of Gatti Union following a long-standing rivalry between groups led by Zahid Matubbar and Nuru Matubbar. The incident began when supporters of Nuru Matubbar allegedly assaulted Zahid Matubbar’s supporter Arif Matubbar while he was returning from a feast.

The attack quickly escalated into a large-scale confrontation that lasted from evening until midnight. Both sides reportedly used local weapons, resulting in the vandalism of 20 to 25 houses and the burning of one home. Three cows belonging to Zahid Matubbar’s supporter Abul Sheikh were allegedly looted. Several of the injured were admitted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital, while others received primary treatment.

Saltha Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Babulur Rahman Khan said police intervened to control the situation and that the area is now calm. Additional police have been deployed, and an investigation is underway.

Thirty injured in BNP factional clash in Faridpur’s Saltha after feast return
