The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) has announced a three-day ‘Skill Development Training Course’ for college-level physical education teachers from the Dhaka and Mymensingh regions, starting Tuesday. Eligible applicants must be B.P.Ed-qualified physical education teachers from government or non-government colleges, with at least two years of service and under 50 years of age. Applications must be submitted via a designated Google link by June 8 at 5 p.m.

Selected participants must bring institutional clearance, two passport-size photos, and sports attire for practical classes. Travel and daily allowances will be covered by their respective institutions, as stated in the DSHE notice.

Railway police in Ishwardi, Pabna, recovered 725 grams of heroin worth about Tk 7.25 million during a special anti-drug operation on the Dhaka–Rajshahi-bound Dhumketu Express on Sunday, June 7, 2026. Officers found a blue travel bag placed above seats 39 and 40 in coach Exta-2, which aroused suspicion. Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) stopped the Border Security Force (BSF) of India from pushing 10 women and children into Bangladesh through the Barobari border in Panchagarh on Sunday. A 17-year-old youth named Oliullah Farazi died after being struck by lightning while fishing with his father in the Payra River near the sluice gate area of Pachakoralia Union in Taltoli upazila of Barguna. Bangladesh’s Power Minister Iqbal Hasan Mahmud told Parliament on Sunday that temporary power interruptions during summer and irrigation seasons should not be termed load-shedding. He explained that such outages occur due to fuel shortages, maintenance work, storms, and infrastructure limitations, which occasionally disrupt electricity supply when demand peaks at around 18,000 megawatts. Responding to lawmakers’ questions, he said there is currently no power shortage in the country.

Police have arrested Golam Saleh Monju Molla, former mayor of Banaripara municipality and former president of the Upazila Awami League in Barishal. He was detained late Saturday night from his residence in Ward No. 4 of Banaripara town. Bangladesh’s Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahid Uddin Swapon left Dhaka for China on an official visit. Independent Member of Parliament for Brahmanbaria-2, Rumin Farhana, told the national parliament that rural areas are facing 10 to 12 hours of daily power outages. Jamalpur 35 Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has intensified surveillance along the Indian border to prevent push-in and illegal entry into Bangladesh.
