The ship carrying Greta Thunberg and fellow activists is named Madlen, in honor of Madlen Kollab—a 31-year-old Palestinian woman, mother of four, and Gaza’s first female fisherwoman, who is expecting her fifth child. Despite the Israeli blockade, boat damage, and lack of gear, Madlen continues her daily battle at sea—not just for livelihood, but for dignity and rights. Her resilience and courage inspired the naming of the ship.
