NCP Convener Nahid Islam has expressed concern over the lack of student union elections in universities despite high expectations following the mass uprising. Speaking at a rally at the main gate of Islamic University on Wednesday night, he stated that student unions are essential for safeguarding students' rights, promoting free expression, and initiating reforms. He called for immediate elections in all universities, including Dhaka and Islamic University. Nahid emphasized that the mass uprising was not just about regime change, but about transforming the state structure and people’s lives. He urged universities to eliminate discrimination based on religion or political identity and promote democratic coexistence.
