Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch police arrested Md Nazrul Islam, general secretary of the Satkhira district Awami League, from the Bashundhara Residential Area in the capital. He was detained from his home at about 12pm on Monday. The report was published and updated on 27 July 2026.
Shafiqul Islam, additional commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police and a DB official, confirmed the arrest on Monday afternoon. He identified the detainee as the general secretary of the Satkhira district Awami League.
According to the DB chief, Nazrul Islam faces multiple cases. The police said further legal proceedings against him are under process. The report did not provide details about the nature of the cases or further information related to the arrest.
