New Salt-Tolerant, Nutrient-Rich Wheat Variety Developed in Bangladesh
A new wheat variety named GAU-1 has been developed by Gazipur Agricultural University (GAKRUB), marking a significant breakthrough as the first wheat variety in Bangladesh tolerant to high salinity, according to university officials. This variety can withstand salinity levels up to 12 deciSiemens (dS), making it especially effective for cultivation in the southern coastal regions of the country. GAU-1 is high-yielding and rich in protein, making it a premium-quality crop.
