BNP’s paddy-sheaf symbol candidate Enamul Haque Enam has won the Chattogram-12 (Patiya) constituency by a wide margin. Voting took place peacefully on Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. After counting all centers, Enam emerged as the clear winner. The results were announced at the Patiya Upazila hall by Assistant Returning Officer and Upazila Nirbahi Officer Farhanur Rahman. The final results will be officially declared by Returning Officer and Chattogram Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Islam Miah.
According to the announced results, Enamul Haque Enam received 134,060 votes, while his nearest rival, Islami Front’s Air Muhammad Peyaru, secured 28,806 votes. Jamaat’s candidate Dr. Faridul Alam, with the scale symbol, came third with 20,940 votes. Field reports indicated that voter turnout was higher in the morning but declined later in the day, with notable participation from women voters.
Patiya Upazila BNP’s former member secretary Khorshed Alam expressed gratitude to local voters, saying they had elected a persecuted and humble leader who would work wholeheartedly for the people of Patiya.
