Border Guard Bangladesh detained three Bangladeshi nationals — Parimal Shahji (33), Santosh Shahji (25), and Bipasha Sarkar (18) — at the Dharmaghar border in Brahmanbaria while they attempted to cross into India illegally. They were reportedly trying to enter Agartala via a trafficker named Kamrul Islam. Two men were seeking employment at a sweet shop, while the woman was seeking medical treatment. Mobile phones, SIM cards, Indian rupees, and Bangladeshi currency were seized from them.

Border guards arrested professional smuggler Sabjul Hossain while he was returning from India with undeclared cosmetics. He was apprehended at Baliaghat checkpoint in Tahirpur along with a large quantity of Indian-branded products. His accomplice Abdul Qadir managed to flee. His body was later dumped into the Ichamati River and has been floating in Indian territory, making repatriation difficult. Locals confirmed his identity after the body was spotted. Wasim had gone to India with others for human trafficking purposes. The BGB has notified the BSF, though the body’s identity has yet to be officially confirmed.
BSF Beats Bangladeshi Youth to Death on Jhenaidah Border
A Bangladeshi national named Kuti Mia (50) was shot dead by Indian Khasi tribesmen near the Mokanchhara border in Doarabazar, Sunamganj. The incident occurred seven kilometers inside Indian territory, in Nothrai Punji under Mosharam police station of Meghalaya’s Shillong district on Thursday afternoon. Six other villagers from the same area managed to escape unharmed. Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and local police claim the group had crossed the border to steal betel nuts.
Bangladeshi Man Shot Dead by Indian Khasi Tribesmen at Border
BSF detained a Bangladeshi man named Abdul Hamid near the Nagorbhita border in Thakurgaon, approximately 500 yards inside Indian territory. BGB Lt. Col. Tanzir Ahmed confirmed the incident, which took place at around 6:40 AM on Thursday during rainfall. Hamid reportedly entered India through pillar 376.
BSF Detains Another Bangladeshi at Thakurgaon Border
India has sent back four Bangladesh-bound cargo trucks carrying garment products from the Petrapole border after revoking the transshipment facility. These trucks were en route to a third country using Indian territory under a 2020 agreement that allowed Bangladesh to transport goods through Indian land to other destinations.
The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) of India officially cancelled the agreement on Tuesday. Since the agreement’s inception on June 29, 2020, Bangladesh had been permitted to use Indian customs stations to access various ports and airports for international shipments. With the cancellation, such transshipment arrangements are no longer valid.

The Israeli military has released 80 Palestinian detainees from Gaza, transferring them through the Israeli-controlled Kissufim crossing near eastern Khan Younis on Thursday.
According to a local doctor, at least 10 of those released are in critical condition and have been admitted to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah. One individual is reported to be in extremely grave condition, unable to move and showing clear signs of physical abuse.

The Arakan Army has abducted 11 fishermen along with five fishing trawlers from the estuary of the Naf River while they were returning from a fishing expedition in the Bay of Bengal. Two of the trawlers and the 11 fishermen have been located, but the fate of the remaining three vessels and their crew is still unknown. Teknaf Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) confirmed the ownership of the recovered trawlers as belonging to Md. Kalam and Md. Shawon from Teknaf. Efforts are ongoing to collect information about the missing trawlers and their crew. Local union leaders have appealed for immediate action to bring the abducted fishermen back safely.
Arakan Army Abducts 11 Fishermen and Five Trawlers
The Border Security Force (BSF) of India has reportedly obstructed a road construction project near the Kathgir border in Bhurungamari, Kurigram. The Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) is currently paving a 2.5 km road from Aziz Doctor’s house to the residence of the late Kashem Member.
According to contractor Shahin Sikder, the project, funded with BDT 26.1 million, faced resistance from BSF during excavation near the border, specifically for a 250-meter stretch. BSF also instructed the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) to halt work. A meeting between BGB and BSF took place at noon on Monday, though the discussion outcomes remain undisclosed. Work continues on the rest of the road, with hopes that the final section will resume pending resolution.
Officials have confirmed there is no current tension at the site.

India has ramped up its military presence in the strategically crucial Siliguri Corridor, commonly known as the “Chicken’s Neck,” deploying advanced weaponry. This move follows remarks by Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus during his China visit, where he referred to India’s northeast as landlocked and described Bangladesh as the gateway to the sea for the region.
Indian Army officials stated the corridor is one of their most fortified areas, home to the Trishakti Corps headquartered in Sukna. The corps is equipped with Rafale jets, BrahMos missiles, and advanced air defense systems, ensuring maximum readiness against potential threats.

An Indian citizen was shot and killed by the Border Security Force (BSF) near the Kurigram-Phulbari border. The deceased, identified as 24-year-old Jahanur Alam, was a resident of Dinhata, Cooch Behar district in India. According to local sources, a group of smugglers attempted to cross the border early in the morning when BSF personnel fired rubber bullets at them. Jahanur was hit and fell into a nearby canal, where he died. The incident has sparked fear among border residents. Upon receiving the news, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) intensified patrols and held a flag meeting with BSF officials. Later, the BSF took custody of the deceased’s body.

Indian and Pakistani troops exchanged fire on Tuesday along the Kashmir border. The skirmish began after a mine explosion in the Krishna Ghati sector, prompting retaliatory gunfire from Pakistan. Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) intercepted seven Indian cows at Doarabazar early Wednesday morning. Two separate patrol teams seized four and three cows, respectively. The estimated market value of the seized cattle is around Tk 560,000. However, the smugglers managed to flee. The battalion commander, Lt. Col. A.K.M. Zakaria Kadir, stated that the cattle have been handed over to the Sunamganj Customs Office and that border surveillance will remain strict.
