Doctor critically injured in Shariatpur hospital attack after patient’s death

Father and son die after speeding bus hits them during truck repair in Faridpur

At least ten people were injured in a serious road accident on the Dhaka-Bhanga Expressway near the No. 2 bridge area of Kutubpur Union in Shibchar upazila, Madaripur. Ten injured in bus-truck collision on Dhaka-Bhanga Expressway in Madaripur

A young man was arrested with 1,890 yaba tablets near the Sunamganj border early Saturday morning. The 28 Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) unit conducted a special operation around 6 a.m. in the Birendranagar area, detaining the suspect and seizing yaba tablets worth about six lakh taka along with a motorcycle. According to BGB, Sagar was caught approximately 1,200 yards inside Bangladesh territory near border pillar 1193/4 S while returning from across the border with the yaba tablets. He was handed over to Tahirpur Police Station for further legal action. The company commander of Birendranagar Border Outpost, Subedar Shafiqul Rahman, stated that patrol activities in the border area have been intensified following the arrest.

Authorities indicated that surveillance and patrol operations will continue to prevent further illegal drug trafficking through the Sunamganj border region.

BGB arrests young man with 1,890 yaba tablets near Sunamganj border

Seventeen shops destroyed in Miarhat port fire, losses estimated at Tk 15 crore

Mother and toddler die in Sitakunda road crash while returning from family outing

Police in Chowgacha, Jashore, arrested four individuals on Friday in two separate anti-drug operations. Four arrested in Jashore with phensedyl and yaba in separate police operations

Police in Naria upazila of Shariatpur recovered dismembered human body parts from a polythene bag found on the bank of the Padma River on Friday afternoon. Locals first noticed the bag floating in tidal water around 3 p.m. and informed the authorities. Officers from Naria Police Station and the river police arrived at the scene and discovered partially decomposed limbs inside the bag.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) team from Faridpur was notified to assist in identifying the remains. Dismembered body parts found in polythene bag on Padma River bank in Naria

A student leader of the National Citizen Party (NCP) died after being struck by lightning while harvesting paddy in Madarganj upazila of Jamalpur on Friday afternoon. The victim, Majnu Mia, aged 22, was working in a field at Hatmagura Kamarpra area of Jorkhali Union when the incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. He was the son of Bachchu Mia and a member of the NCP’s student wing, Jatiya Chhatra Shakti, in the Madarganj upazila unit.

According to local and family sources, Majnu had gone to the field with his mother, Monjura Begum, and younger brother, Ronju Mia, to harvest paddy when the sky suddenly became overcast and rain with thunder began. A sudden lightning strike hit him, leaving him critically injured and causing his death on the spot.

Madarganj Model Police Station’s officer-in-charge Snehashish Roy confirmed the incident and said police visited the scene after receiving the report.

NCP student leader killed by lightning while harvesting paddy in Jamalpur

A detainee named Md. Humayun Kabir, also known as Mainuddin, died at Noakhali District Jail on Friday. Prison authorities said he fell ill before Friday prayers and was given initial treatment at the jail’s medical unit. Fire in Rajoir destroys nine houses and kills two cows in South Shrirampur village

On Tuesday night, during a heated argument, Asma allegedly struck Zia on the head with an iron rod, killing him instantly. She then cut the body into pieces, separating bones and flesh, and kept them in a drum for three days. On Friday evening, she reportedly hired an autorickshaw and disposed of some body parts at different locations.

Police said Asma confessed to the killing during interrogation. Based on her information, officers recovered body parts from Atong Brikkhotola area on Friday night. Authorities are investigating whether others were involved and have initiated legal proceedings.

SUST student’s body recovered five hours after drowning in Sylhet’s Bichanakandi area

A man named Halim Hawlader, aged 65, was killed in an attack in Helencha village under Garuria Union of Bakerganj upazila, Barishal, on Friday afternoon. The incident reportedly stemmed from an extortion demand made by Mahmudun Nabi Sumon Hawlader, joint general secretary of Barishal district Chhatra Dal. Halim’s younger brother, businessman Delwar Hossain, and several others were injured during the assault.

Following a written complaint filed by Halim on May 14, a group of 15–20 people allegedly led by Sumon attacked Delwar’s business establishment the next day.

Bakerganj police chief Adil Hossain said the clash was linked to a land dispute and confirmed one death. Two suspects, Kalam Hawlader and Ujjal Hawlader, have been detained, and legal proceedings are underway.
