For the first time in the country, a robotic rehabilitation center has been launched at the Super-Specialized Hospital of Bangladesh Medical University (BMU). Advisor Asif Mahmud announced that the center will provide advanced physiotherapy and neurological rehabilitation using 62 state-of-the-art robots. Services will be offered free of charge to those injured in the July movement. With technical support from China, the facility includes 22 AI-enabled robots capable of delivering personalized treatments.

The ongoing dengue outbreak in Bangladesh is becoming increasingly complex due to changes in the nature of the virus, according to the Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Prof. Dr. Md. Abu Jafar.

He stated that the number of severe cases has risen, with many patients now requiring intensive monitoring. As a result, there is a growing need for portable ultrasound machines and bedside hematocrit devices to enhance patient care.

While recent outbreaks in districts like Barguna appear to be under control, nationwide alertness has been heightened. In the last 24 hours alone, 406 new dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals. So far this year, over 13,000 people have been hospitalized with dengue, and 52 have died.

Dr. Jafar urged the public to seek immediate medical attention if fever develops and to strictly follow official health advisories. The World Health Organization has also provided essential medical equipment to aid in dengue management.

Six leading U.S. medical organizations have filed a lawsuit against U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the Department of Health and Human Services, and the CDC, challenging recent decisions regarding vaccination guidelines. They argue that halting vaccine recommendations for children and pregnant women is unscientific and poses a risk to public health. The lawsuit demands that COVID-19 vaccines be reinstated in the recommended schedule through proper scientific and legal channels. Physicians involved warn that policy decisions lacking scientific basis could harm public health.

In the past 24 hours, dengue fever claimed 3 more lives and led to 425 new hospitalizations across Bangladesh. This brings the total number of dengue deaths in 2025 to 51, with 13,188 reported infections so far.

Barisal Division, especially areas outside the city corporation limits, reported the highest number of cases at 120. In July alone, 2,892 people have been infected and 9 have died. Of the 1,351 current hospitalizations, 386 are in Dhaka and 965 in other districts.

In the past 24 hours, 317 new dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals across Bangladesh, with no reported fatalities. The highest number of cases was recorded in the Barishal division, particularly in Barguna, which saw 102 new cases in a single day — the highest daily count this year. So far in 2025, a total of 12,271 people have contracted dengue, and 45 people have died from the disease. Compared to 2023 and 2024, both infection and death rates have declined this year.

Bangladesh faces a severe dengue outbreak risk this August and September, with over 12,000 hospitalizations and rising cases daily. The Aedes mosquito breeds rapidly in stagnant water caused by unplanned urbanization, poor sanitation, and climate change. Experts warn that without immediate, coordinated efforts—including destroying breeding sites, public awareness, and scientific monitoring—the situation could worsen dramatically. The crisis demands combined government and community action to control dengue, emphasizing larval control, hotspot targeting, and environmentally safe measures to prevent a national health emergency.

Bangladesh recorded one new death and 10 fresh cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). The deceased was a male aged between 61 and 70.

The current positivity rate stands at 4.02%. Since the onset of the pandemic, the total death toll has reached 29,519, with 20 deaths recorded so far in 2025. Total infections have risen to 2,052,073, with 528 confirmed cases in the current year.

Bangladesh recorded three more deaths from COVID-19 and 19 new cases in the past 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The deaths occurred between 8 a.m. Sunday and 8 a.m. Monday. So far this year, the virus has claimed 19 lives—eight men and eleven women. Regionally, seven deaths occurred in Dhaka, nine in Chattogram, and three in Khulna.

Dhaka, June 22, 2025 — In the last 24 hours, 329 people have been admitted to hospitals across Bangladesh with dengue fever, while one person has died from the mosquito-borne disease, the DGHS has confirmed.

Meanwhile, 301 dengue patients have recovered and been discharged from hospitals in the past 24 hours. With this, the total number of recoveries this year has risen to 6,817.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services, 352 new dengue patients were hospitalized in the last 24 hours, marking the highest single-day admission count this year. One death from dengue was also reported. The highest number of cases was in Barisal (167), followed by Chattogram (76), Dhaka city (62), Rajshahi (24), Dhaka Division (15), and Khulna (8).

A 55-year-old woman, Sabila Begum, has died from COVID-19 while undergoing treatment in the ICU of Jessore General Hospital. This marks another fatality in the region, following two earlier deaths reported on Wednesday.

Sabila, identified as the first case in Jessore during the second wave of infections, was initially admitted to a private hospital with breathing difficulties on June 11. Her condition deteriorated, prompting a transfer to the general hospital where she later passed away.

Between Wednesday morning and 8:00 AM Thursday, 248 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). No new fatalities were reported during this period.

So far this year, a total of 6,926 dengue patients have been hospitalized. Among them, 59.2% are male and 40.8% are female. The total number of dengue-related deaths this year stands at 30.

In response to a spike in COVID-19 cases, the Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) will begin a vaccination campaign this Sunday. The first phase will prioritize senior citizens over 60, pregnant women, and frontline workers.

Chief Health Officer Dr. Mohammad Imam Hossain Rana stated that the city has been divided into seven zones, with each initially receiving 300 doses of the Pfizer vaccine. Citizens are advised to bring a national ID card, birth certificate, or previous vaccination card when arriving for the shot.
