Bangladesh has reported two more deaths from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, along with 18 new infections. According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the deceased include one male and one female, aged between 41-50 and 71-80, respectively. So far this year, seven people have died from COVID-19 in Bangladesh, with a total of 331 confirmed cases. Authorities continue to monitor the situation and urge citizens to remain cautious.
Two More COVID-19 Deaths in Bangladesh; 18 New Cases Detected
More than 600 men and women in Daudkandi municipality, Comilla, have contracted dengue fever, with three deaths reported in the past month and a half.
Redwan Islam, the municipal administrator of Daudkandi, confirmed the rising number of dengue infections in the area. Due to the alarming situation, two wards of the municipality have been declared high-risk zones.
The Upazila Health Department stated that dengue cases are rapidly increasing in wards 5 and 6, especially in the villages of Donarchar, Sabzikandi, Daudkandi, Sahapara, Baldakhal, and Tuzarbhanga. Currently, more than 600 people have been affected in these two wards alone. Local representatives are actively working to raise public awareness to curb the spread of the disease.

Khulna has reported its first COVID-19 cases amid the onset of a potential second wave of infections. Both patients are women—one aged 18 and the other 42. The younger woman has been hospitalized at Khulna Medical College Hospital due to her critical condition, while the elder patient is being treated at home and is reportedly in stable condition.
First Cases of Second COVID-19 Wave Detected in Khulna
Between 8:00 AM Sunday and 8:00 AM Monday, 234 people were hospitalized across Bangladesh due to dengue fever, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). Fortunately, no fatalities were recorded during this period. Breakdown of new cases: Barisal - 119, Chattogram - 29, Dhaka Division - 32 (Dhaka North - 15, Dhaka South - 28), Khulna - 5, Rajshahi - 5, and Mymensingh - 1. Since January, a total of 6,222 dengue cases have been reported, with 30 deaths so far.
234 New Dengue Cases Hospitalized in 24 Hours, No Deaths Reported
Bangladesh reported one new death from dengue in the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll this year to 30. The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) also confirmed that 249 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals during the same period, pushing the total number of infections this year to 5,988.
Barisal Division saw the highest number of new hospital admissions with 134 cases. In Dhaka, 43 patients were hospitalized within the two city corporations, followed by 9 in the rest of Dhaka Division, 39 in Chattogram, 7 in Mymensingh, 8 in Khulna, 5 in Rajshahi, 3 in Rangpur, and 1 in Sylhet.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has reported one new death and 26 fresh COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours. Additionally, four patients have recovered during this period. A total of 291 samples were tested, with a positivity rate of 14.29%. Since the pandemic began in March 2020, the cumulative test positivity rate stands at 13.05%.

Four people, including a female doctor, have tested positive for COVID-19 in Cumilla. Civil Surgeon Dr. Mohammad Ali Noor Bashir confirmed that out of 13 samples collected in the past three days, four tested positive. One patient is being treated at Cumilla Medical College Hospital, two at the DNCC Dedicated COVID-19 Hospital, and one is under home care. Health officials are urging residents to remain vigilant.

This year, dengue has so far claimed 29 lives, with a total of 5,739 infections across the country.

In the past 24 hours, five people have died of dengue fever in Bangladesh, marking the highest single-day death toll from the mosquito-borne disease so far this year. According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the fatalities include three women and two men. During the same period, 159 new patients were admitted to hospitals with dengue symptoms.
The cumulative death toll from dengue this year now stands at 28. The outbreak appears most severe in the Barishal division, where 124 new cases were confirmed in just one day, indicating a rapidly worsening situation.

As COVID-19 infections surge again globally, especially in neighboring India, Bangladesh has also started to witness a worrying upward trend. In the past 24 hours, 134 samples were tested, and 15 new cases were confirmed.

COVID-19 cases rising again — 15 new infections detected in 24 hours
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 108 people were hospitalized with dengue fever in the past 24 hours. Fortunately, no new deaths were reported during this period.
Between Wednesday 8:00 AM and Thursday 8:00 AM, the Barisal division recorded the highest number of new dengue admissions, with 89 patients hospitalized. Other affected regions include Dhaka South (10 cases), Chattogram (4), Dhaka division excluding the city areas (3), Rajshahi (1), and Dhaka North (1).
So far this year, a total of 23 people have died due to dengue-related complications, the DGHS confirmed.

Two patients undergoing treatment for dengue fever in Barguna have died within a single day, raising the district's death toll to 12. The deceased have been identified as Chan Mia (75) and Gosai Das (70). According to official sources, a total of 1,565 people have been infected with dengue in Barguna over the past six months. Currently, 172 patients are being treated at the Barguna District Hospital. The recent spike in deaths—two within five days—has sparked growing concern among local residents.
