In an effort to strengthen regional stock market cooperation, the Dhaka Stock Exchange, Colombo Stock Exchange, and Pakistan Stock Exchange recently signed an agreement in Colombo. The agreement aims to facilitate joint initiatives in digital transformation, development of new financial products, market oversight, investor protection, human resource development, and cross-exchange training programs. Additionally, long-term plans will explore cross-border listings, brokerage partnerships, and institutional connectivity.
Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan Stock Exchanges Sign Cooperation Agreement
In March, Rumor Scanner detected 298 cases of misinformation spreading across the internet. In comparison, 271 cases were identified in January and 268 in February. Among the March cases, at least 27 were related to rape. Political misinformation accounted for 105 cases, making up 35% of the total. Other categories included 103 cases of national issues, 12 international, 36 religious, 3 related to entertainment and literature, 3 educational, 12 cases of fraud, and 16 cases related to sports. The majority of false information, 143 cases, was video-based. Among the detected misinformation, 168 were outright false, 97 were misleading, and 31 were distorted. Facebook was the primary platform for spreading misinformation, with 273 instances. Additionally, Indian media propagated four misleading reports involving Bangladesh, and three instances of misinformation were spread from Indian social media accounts and pages.

However, the Bangladesh government has dismissed the report as misleading and one-sided, asserting that democratic values and cultural diversity will be preserved.

Fayez Ahmed, Senior Assistant Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, has declared that all domestic and international conspiracies against Bangladesh have failed. He stated that the government has been subjected to a wave of misinformation from various media outlets, particularly from Indian sources, aimed at undermining Bangladesh’s sovereignty and religious harmony. "Alhamdulillah, we have successfully countered these false narratives," he said. Ahmed dismissed Indian media reports as propaganda, emphasizing that local journalists have played a crucial role in defending Bangladesh's sovereignty by practicing responsible journalism.

As Bangladesh faces its first challenge in securing the next tranche from the ongoing $4.7 billion IMF loan program, an IMF delegation is set to visit Dhaka on April 5. The delegation will engage in discussions with various government departments over two weeks, reviewing the conditions for the disbursement of $2.39 billion. Meetings are scheduled with the Finance Division, NBR, Power Division, BPDB, BERC, and the Energy & Mineral Resources Division. A press briefing will be held on April 17, and two rounds of meetings will be held with the Finance Adviser. Bangladesh hopes to receive two loan installments together.

During a visit to Moscow, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi reaffirmed China’s strong ties with Russia, stating:

It argued that the report selectively highlighted certain incidents while ignoring Bangladesh's recent progress and the complexity of its realities. It further noted that female participation has increased across all sectors, with 2.7 million women participating in Youth Festival 2025. Additionally, it dismissed allegations that the Chief Adviser was not taking action against extremists. The statement emphasized Bangladesh's economic progress and refuted claims that isolated political violence was being misrepresented as religious violence.

Russia’s Supreme Court has confirmed receiving a request from the Prosecutor General’s Office to lift sanctions on the Taliban, who were designated a terrorist organization in 2003. The court will review the request.

During his visits, he exchanged Eid greetings with army personnel and participated in a festive meal. Additionally, the army chief distributed Eid gifts to families affected by the recent fire incident in Bhashantek.

Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended Eid greetings to Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus via phone.
