Ali Mohammad Rashed, the controversial Officer-in-Charge of Gacha Police Station under Gazipur Metropolitan Police, has been transferred after nine months following multiple serious allegations. These include bribery, releasing suspects in exchange for money, case manipulation, extortion, and aiding in illegal land grabs. He has been reassigned to the Detective Branch (DB) North Division. Inspector Aminul Islam will now serve as the new OC. Reports from media and a police intelligence agency confirmed the allegations, prompting the decision by GMP headquarters.

A Chattogram court has ordered the imprisonment of Narayan Chandra Nath, former secretary of the Chattogram Education Board, in connection with a case involving the forgery of his son's SSC examination results.

The court issued the order on Tuesday after rejecting Nath’s bail plea. According to reports, while serving as secretary of the board, Nath’s son, Nakshatra Debnath, sat for the SSC examination in 2023 from a private college. He reportedly obtained a GPA of 5. However, the result raised concerns among several teachers, prompting an investigation.

A probe committee later confirmed that the results were manipulated, leading to legal action against the former secretary.

The Bangladeshi government has started relocating over 400 nationals, including embassy staff, from Tehran to safer locations amid escalating Iran-Israel tensions. Abdur Rokib, an assistant conservancy officer of Khulna City Corporation, has come under fire for posting content on Facebook that appeared to support an autocratic style of governance. Authorities have removed the name of Ivy Rahman, former President of Bangladesh Mohila Awami League, from the Bhairab Municipal Stadium in Kishoreganj. A Dhaka court has directed authorities to issue a gazette notification summoning Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 11 others to appear in court in connection with a case over alleged abuse of power involving the allocation of a 10-katha government plot in the Purbachal New Town Project.

The court has set July 1 as the deadline for submitting a report on the matter. According to Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) prosecutor Mir Ahmed Ali Salam, six cases related to corruption in land allocation were scheduled for hearing today. However, police failed to submit arrest reports in five of the cases. In the remaining case, a report stated that Sheikh Hasina and the other 11 accused are currently absconding. The ACC has requested the court to proceed with publishing a gazette notice to summon the accused in accordance with legal procedure.

Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam has stated that Jamaat’s absence from the second day of the Accord Commission’s dialogue cannot be characterized as a boycott. Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained 24-year-old Miton Das, an Indian citizen from Assam's Silchar area, for illegally entering Bangladesh through the Kalenga border in Chunarughat, Habiganj. He was caught near Mongoliya Bari during a routine patrol by the 55 BGB unit. BGB seized Indian and Bangladeshi currency, Indian liquor, a mobile phone, Aadhaar and PAN cards, and other personal items. He was handed over to Chunarughat Police Station on Monday evening for further legal procedures.

A delegation led by Grażyna Baranowska, Vice-Chairperson of the United Nations Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances, paid a courtesy call on Bangladesh Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman.
