India has imposed a ban on the import of Bangladeshi garments through its northeastern land ports. From now on, shipments will only be allowed via Kolkata and Nhava Sheva seaports. Police have arrested three individuals for running an online scam that targeted childless women through fake Facebook ads. According to AC Tariq Latif, the gang lured victims with false promises and stole large sums of money and valuables. The arrested suspects—Asifur Rahman (20), Al Amin (25), and Anamika (24)—were found in possession of significant amounts of cash, gold jewelry, and mobile phones. Investigators revealed that the group often posed as a woman named Rukaiya to deceive their victims.

Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, a former central bank governor and current economic adviser, criticized banks for failing to provide prompt customer service. He cited a recent case where a senior civil servant was kept waiting for an hour because the bank lacked sufficient cash—only to be paid after the branch borrowed money from the central bank. “This is unacceptable. Fatema Khanam Liza has been relieved of her duties as the spokesperson of the Chattogram Metropolitan unit of Boichitra Birodhi Chhatro Andolon (Anti-Discrimination Student Movement) following viral videos showing her engaging in drug use and an unregulated lifestyle. The Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) has revealed that dismissed soldier Md. Naimul Islam had been planning acts of sabotage under the guise of organizing a protest rally. Since August 5, he had been collaborating with other discharged soldiers to spread provocative messages and incite unrest via media and social platforms. On May 18, he planned to stage a major disruptive rally at the entrance of Dhaka Cantonment. When army personnel attempted to contact him, he attacked them with local weapons. Ordinary officers of the income tax and customs cadres, currently observing a pen-down strike, have called for a resolution through dialogue over the dissolution of the National Board of Revenue (NBR). Former U.S. President Donald Trump has warned that countries failing to sign new trade agreements with the United States may face tariffs as high as 50%. Trump stated that the demand for trade deals is so high that individual negotiations are not feasible. Instead, within the next 2–3 weeks, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick will send letters outlining new tariff structures. Teachers and staff of the mosque-based child and mass education project besieged the Planning Commission demanding unpaid salaries. The protest, involving 84,000 workers, was suspended after assurances from the Planning Secretary. Prior to this, protesters had submitted a memorandum to the Chief Adviser. A legal petition has been filed challenging the validity of the ordinance that dissolved the National Board of Revenue (NBR) and created two new entities: the Revenue Policy Division and the Revenue Administration Division. The petitioner, a lawyer, questioned the ordinance under Articles 26, 31, and 29(1) of the Constitution, arguing it is unconstitutional and beyond legal authority. The ordinance, issued on May 12, dissolved the NBR and the Internal Resources Division to form the two new departments tasked with revenue management and policy formulation.

At a consultation meeting with tea workers' representatives, Adviser M Sakhawat Hossain assured that their legitimate demands would be implemented promptly. Workers called for wage hikes, permanent housing, nationalization of primary schools within tea gardens, improved sanitation and safe drinking water, trade union reform and election rights, as well as pension and gratuity after retirement. Police in India’s Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh claimed to have detained 90 Bangladeshi nationals, including 35 men, 27 women, and 28 children, during raids on several brick kilns.
SSP Shlok Kumar stated that the detainees admitted to being Bangladeshi citizens and failed to produce any valid documents.
Authorities said the group had entered Mathura through neighboring states around 3–4 months ago. Some Aadhaar cards were reportedly recovered from the group.
