An Indian student has reportedly faced police brutality at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey before being deported back to India. A video circulating online shows the young student with his hands and feet tied, as multiple police officers pin him to the ground.

Sharing the video on X (formerly Twitter), eyewitness Kunal Jain wrote, “Last night, I saw a young Indian student being deported through Newark Airport. His hands were handcuffed, and the officers treated him like a criminal. This is nothing short of a humanitarian disaster.”

The incident has sparked outrage on social media, raising questions about the treatment of deportees in the United States.

Police in Rajshahi's Bagha upazila have arrested four fugitives in connection with four separate cases. The accused are Azmira Begum (48), Kamal Hossain, Zahurul Islam (36), and Zakir Hossain (30).
OC Asaduzzaman said they had been evading law enforcement for a long time. All four were sent to jail via court on Tuesday following special operations.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced that from now on, anyone identified as a foreigner in the state will be pushed into Bangladesh, bypassing any legal procedures.

Speaking at the Assam Legislative Assembly on Monday, Sarma referred to an October 2024 ruling by the Supreme Court of India. In that verdict, the then Chief Justice declared that individuals who entered Assam after March 24, 1971, are not eligible for Indian citizenship. The ruling emphasized that no exceptions should be made for those who crossed the border during that time—they must be sent back to their country of origin. Drawing from this, Sarma asserted that Assam will implement a direct pushback policy for all detected foreigners.

Opposition parties have raised serious concerns about the legality of this unilateral decision by the Assam government.

An 18-year-old woman named Keya Akhter has died by suicide after reportedly consuming poison in Tongi, Gazipur. Following the incident, her husband has gone into hiding.

Keya, originally from Kakchira village under Patharghata police station in Barguna, was living in a rented apartment in East Arichpur, Turag Bazar area, with her husband. According to police, ongoing marital disputes led Keya to take poison late Monday night. She was rushed to Tongi Government Hospital by family members but succumbed to the poisoning early Tuesday morning. Police have launched an investigation and are searching for the absconding husband.

A man named Sajjad (35), recently released from prison on bail, has been arrested again in Cumilla with a cache of homemade weapons. According to the army, Sajjad resumed his criminal activities shortly after his release. On Monday night, a patrol team from the Cumilla Cantonment Army Camp conducted an operation in the Gobindapur area and arrested him. They seized four machetes, two knives, a grill-cutter, and five pairs of scissors. Sajjad was later handed over to Cumilla Sadar South Police Station.

The first return flight carrying 374 Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims is scheduled to arrive at Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport today at 2:05 PM. This marks the beginning of the return phase for pilgrims who performed the holy Hajj. A total of 87,157 Bangladeshis went to Saudi Arabia this year via 224 flights operated by three airlines. Swedish activist Greta Thunberg has departed Israel on a flight bound for France after being detained from a humanitarian aid ship. However, at least five other rights activists arrested alongside her have refused to leave Israel voluntarily, according to Israeli authorities.
France’s Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot confirmed on Tuesday that the activists refused voluntary deportation after their arrest from the vessel Madlen. Israeli authorities stated that those unwilling to sign deportation documents would be presented before a judicial authority for forced removal.

Tensions flared in Sylhet’s Jaflong tourist area as a scuffle broke out between local youths and visiting tourists. Meanwhile, locals, including religious leaders and elders, have imposed restrictions on tourists visiting Utmachhara, another popular destination in Companiganj.

The Indian Air Force is set to receive the advanced A1 variant of the HAL Tejas fighter jet by the end of this month.
