The procession started at 9:00 AM from the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center, passed through Agargaon and Khamarbari, and concluded at Manik Mia Avenue. A cultural program was held at the South Plaza of the National Parliament. DNCC also organized a two-day Eid fair at the China Friendship Center, featuring around 200 stalls.

An eight-year-old child, Mohammad Rafi, lost his life in a fireworks accident in Patuakhali on Sunday night. In a separate incident, two teenage cousins, Mohammad Belal Talukdar (16) and Mohammad Rabbi (15), sustained severe injuries, with parts of their hands being severed. Rafi’s uncle, Abul Bashar, described the tragic moment when a firework exploded with excessive force, sending debris into Rafi’s throat, causing massive bleeding and unconsciousness. He was later declared dead by doctors. The two injured teenagers are currently receiving medical treatment.

Myanmar’s junta chief, Min Aung Hlaing, announced on Sunday that at least 1,700 people have died, and over 3,500 have been injured due to the earthquake. Additionally, 300 people remain missing, and the death toll is expected to rise. Rescue operations are ongoing, but progress is slow as most efforts rely on local residents who lack proper equipment. Police recovered 61 stolen laptops and several mobile phones from a house in Pallabi on Sunday. Two individuals, Mahathir Mohammad Khan Tamal (24) and Md. Tofayel Ahmed (26), were arrested in connection with the stolen items. Authorities stated that further investigation is underway to dismantle the criminal network.

Thirteen passengers were sent to jail by a court for their involvement in an attack, vandalism, and robbery aboard the MV Royal Cruise-2, en route from Dhaka to Barguna. The Betagi Senior Judicial Magistrate’s Court issued the ruling on Sunday evening. The police had detained 18 individuals earlier that day. The ship’s supervisor later filed a case against 13 identified suspects and 25-26 unidentified persons. Protests erupted outside Betagi police station demanding the release of the detainees.

In a message on Sunday, Advisor Mahfuz Alam expressed that Eid-ul-Fitr brings a message of joy, compassion, and solidarity. He remarked that with the fall of fascism, this year’s Eid comes with a newfound sense of relief. He urged those who are financially capable to share their joy with underprivileged individuals. Additionally, he prayed for the prosperity and peace of Bangladesh and the Muslim Ummah.

Religious Affairs Adviser A.F.M. Khalid has announced that President Md. Shahabuddin will offer Eid prayers at Bangabhaban instead of the National Eidgah. However, the Chief Adviser will join the main Eid congregation at the National Eidgah. The primary Eid prayer session is scheduled for 8:30 AM. In case of inclement weather, the prayer will be held at Baitul Mukarram Mosque at 9:00 AM. This marks a deviation from tradition, as the President typically joins the congregation at the National Eidgah.

Authorities conducted a massive eviction drive in Kaliakoir, Gazipur, demolishing over 100 illegal structures built on forest land. The operation took place a day before Eid, prompting discontent among affected residents. The Forest Department had previously issued warnings and public announcements instructing squatters to vacate, but as they refused to comply, bulldozers were deployed to clear the encroachments. While some residents resisted, officials stated that legal action would be taken against those attempting to reclaim the land.

A gunfight erupted between police, navy personnel, and armed criminals in Khulna, resulting in the arrest of 10 individuals, including notorious criminals Palash Sheikh and Kala Lavlu. Authorities recovered a significant cache of ammunition and several motorcycles. The exchange of fire, which lasted three hours, saw the suspects firing 80–90 rounds at security forces. Seven police officers and one navy personnel sustained injuries. The operation was based on intelligence reports, and authorities have assured that efforts to combat organized crime will continue.

Authorities in Gafargaon, Mymensingh, have imposed Section 144 at Lamkain Eidgah to prevent potential clashes over the selection of an imam for Eid prayers. The longstanding imam, Mufti Maulana Mohammad Ali, has led Eid prayers for over two decades, but a faction of locals is demanding a replacement, leading to rising tensions. To prevent any untoward incidents, the administration has banned gatherings, carrying of weapons, and the use of loudspeakers in the area on Eid day.

In his Eid message to the Muslim world, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reaffirmed Turkey’s commitment to Syria’s territorial integrity, stating that his country will not allow instability along its southern border. He highlighted ongoing military operations against the PKK and YPG, which he accused of attempting to establish a corridor along Turkey’s border. Erdogan warned that Turkey’s patience has limits and called for the disarmament and dissolution of these groups. Following Eid prayers at Istanbul’s Grand Çamlıca Mosque, he also expressed concern over the situation in Palestine.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman paid a courtesy visit to Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus. During the meeting, the Army Chief briefed the Chief Adviser on security measures taken to ensure a peaceful Eid. Discussions also covered initiatives to support those injured in the July uprising, including iftar gatherings and financial aid for affected families. The Chief Adviser praised the army’s professionalism and commitment to national security.

Following an inspection of the National Eidgah, Home Affairs Adviser Jahangir Alam assured that there is no security threat in Dhaka during Eid. Addressing reports of a sabotage plot allegedly discussed at an Awami League iftar event in Kolkata, he dismissed concerns, stating that criminals will always conspire, but necessary measures will be taken against them. He emphasized that security arrangements are robust and urged the public to report any suspicious activities.

Four members of the same family were killed, and two others injured, after a battery-run auto-rickshaw collided with a bus in Gauripur, Mymensingh, on Sunday morning.

The victims were traveling from Mymensingh city to their village home to celebrate Eid when the tragic accident occurred. The deceased were identified as Kulsum Begum (85), her daughter Dilruba (39), and Dilruba’s two daughters, Riti (14) and Preeti (6). Dilruba’s other daughter, Mahi (16), and their relative, Shyamoli (18), were critically injured.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sajjad Ali inspected the security measures at the National Eidgah on Sunday morning, stating that there are no specific threats this Eid. However, authorities have taken comprehensive security measures, considering all possible challenges.

A five-tier security plan has been implemented for Eid prayers at the National Eidgah and across Dhaka. The commissioner confirmed that the President, cabinet members, and other dignitaries will attend the main congregation.

To ensure safety, 15,000 police personnel will be deployed, alongside members of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit (CTTC), Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU), plainclothes detectives, and the military. Additionally, over a hundred CCTV cameras will monitor the area.
