Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has proposed observing March 13 as ‘Asiya Day’ in memory of the young rape victim from Magura. The objective would be to raise awareness about child protection and build a society where every individual, regardless of gender, can live safely.

In a statement, Rahman lamented Asiya’s brutal ordeal, describing her as a tragic witness to history. “She left us in tears at 1 PM on Thursday, shaking the entire nation (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilayhi Raji’un). May Allah accept her among His most beloved,” he prayed.

Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Ghulam Parwar has strongly condemned the remarks of Advisor Mahfuz Alam, who stated that Jamaat had supported war crimes.

Parwar accused Alam of echoing the rhetoric of “foreign spies” like Shahriar Kabir. He reminded Alam that, as an advisor to a non-political interim government, he has no ethical or legal right to target any political party with baseless allegations.

Parwar further argued that no evidence linking Jamaat leaders to war crimes was found during Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s rule, adding that Mujib himself granted general amnesty to many detainees. He highlighted that former Jamaat leader Ghulam Azam was later exonerated by the Supreme Court and had his citizenship reinstated.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has condemned the ongoing incidents of rape and violence, linking them to what he describes as the immoral rule of the previous fascist government.

Recalling a 2018 incident in Subarnachar where BNP supporter Parul Begum was allegedly gang-raped in front of her children for voting against the ruling party, Fakhrul stated that the culture of impunity has allowed such crimes to persist. He expressed deep sorrow over the recent death of an 8-year-old rape victim, calling it a national tragedy.

Fakhrul urged the government to take immediate steps to ensure justice, establish a safe environment for children, and hold perpetrators accountable with exemplary punishment.

Shaon Kabi Riza (25), president of the Rupsha South Union unit of the BNP-affiliated student wing, has finally been granted bail following his altercation with police.

BNP and its affiliated organizations had been vocal on social media all day Wednesday, protesting Riza’s arrest, alleged torture, and the charges filed against him. As tensions escalated, BNP supporters announced a protest for Thursday afternoon, demanding his immediate release and condemning the police’s actions. However, following Riza’s bail in two cases and directives from district BNP leaders, the protest was subsequently called off.

Inqilab Manch held a protest at Shahbagh, demanding the immediate arrest of Laki Akhter and her associates, whom they labeled as traitors. During the demonstration, they announced plans to rename Shahbagh intersection as “Khaja Salimullah Square” and install four gates at the surrounding roads. These gates will be named after executed war criminals Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury, Delwar Hossain Sayeedi, Abdul Quader Molla, and Mir Quasem Ali.

BNP leader Barkatullah Bulu has called for exposing those financially supporting Sheikh Hasina. He claimed that massive funds were being used to safeguard her, with individuals allegedly donating millions, providing vehicles, helicopters, and other resources. Bulu urged journalists to uncover and report on the financial backing of the newly emerged political party and the expenditures aimed at countering BNP.

BNP leader Mirza Abbas has warned that no political decisions in Bangladesh will be made while disregarding BNP. He stated that Sheikh Hasina’s fascist government has been overthrown by a mass uprising, forcing her to flee the country. Prince further alleged that fugitive Awami League leaders are now attempting to destabilize Bangladesh’s political landscape by making misleading, false, and provocative statements in foreign media. He emphasized that Sheikh Hasina and her associates will be brought back to the country to face justice—not as political leaders, but for their alleged crimes, including genocide, power usurpation, corruption, and plundering.

The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Asiya, a child from Magura who was a victim of sexual assault and abuse at her sister’s home. She succumbed to her injuries on Thursday at 1 PM while undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka.

In a statement, the NCP prayed for Asiya’s departed soul and extended its deepest sympathies to her grieving family. The party condemned the abuse Asiya endured, calling it a disgrace to both the state and society. At such a critical juncture for the nation, this tragic incident is deeply disheartening. The NCP reiterated its strong demand for exemplary punishment for the perpetrators and reaffirmed its commitment to fighting against such heinous crimes.

Following an application by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), a court has ordered the freezing of 21 bank accounts belonging to former Member of Parliament Sadek Khan, his wife Mrs. Ferdousi Khan, and their son Fahim Sadek Khan. These accounts contain a total of 42,007,686 BDT. The application states that the investigation is ongoing, and during the probe, significant information was uncovered regarding the acquisition of substantial movable assets by the accused. Concerns were raised about potential attempts to transfer these assets, prompting the court to take immediate action.

The body of Asiya, a child who was brutally assaulted and killed while visiting her sister’s home, has been taken to Magura. Her funeral was completed on Thursday evening. A military helicopter transported her remains to Magura before iftar, and her janaza (funeral prayer) was held at Nomani Maidan at 7 PM. Following the prayer, her coffin was carried by Hasnat Abdullah, Chief Organizer (Southern Region) of the National Citizens’ Party, and Sarjis Alam, Chief Organizer (Northern Region).

Khelafat Majlis leader Maulana Mamunul Haque, NCP Chief Organizer (South) Hasnat Abdullah, and NCP Chief Organizer (North) Sarjis Alam have arrived in Magura to attend the funeral of eight-year-old Aasiya, who died after being raped and brutally assaulted. The funeral is scheduled to take place at 7 PM at Nomani Maidan, Magura.

Aasiya was visiting her sister’s house in Magura when she was raped on March 6. The perpetrators also attempted to strangle her to death. After days of treatment at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka, she succumbed to her injuries on Thursday.

Golam Mohiuddin and his family members have reportedly conducted transactions exceeding 1 billion BDT through 12 bank accounts. Among these transactions, deposits amounting to 489.3 million BDT and withdrawals of 482.7 million BDT were recorded, with a remaining balance of only 3.3 million BDT.

Despite accumulating 542.9 million BDT across these accounts, no legitimate sources of income—beyond his legal profession—could be identified. Investigations have also revealed that Mohiuddin has purchased 770 decimals of land in Izdia and Bhabanipur unions. Additionally, he has acquired large properties, including land and flats, through fraudulent loans and illegal means by showcasing fake development projects.
