Eyewitnesses said the attack occurred when the opposing group confronted the rally, leading to physical altercations.

Speaking at a youth seminar, BNP leader Dr. Moin Khan claimed that the ongoing political discord in Bangladesh—including tensions between the government, new student groups, and the BNP—is being intentionally orchestrated. “We must identify those behind this manufactured opposition,” he said. Reflecting on Bangladesh’s recent struggle for democracy, Khan emphasized that the people will not allow this renewed journey to derail. He also called on the youth to take responsibility in guiding the nation out of instability and recalled the active participation of student movements in past uprisings.

Hill Land Port Meeting: Sarjis Alam said the government collects billions in revenue from Hilli Land Port, which contributes significantly to the national economy. However, local people have long suffered from lack of development. Roads are bad, intercity trains don’t stop at the railway station, and hospitals lack proper doctors. He accused political leaders and syndicates of looting billions without developing the port area. He emphasized that being a leader requires understanding the people’s and workers’ language. Sarjis also urged the implementation of the July manifesto.

Dr. Zubaida Rahman recently visited the Dhanmondi office of Suravi, a non-profit organization founded by Syeda Iqbal Mand Banu, which has been working tirelessly for 47 years to educate underprivileged children and adolescents. She praised the organization for empowering street children and the destitute through education. Suravi’s students excel in Quran recitation, interpretation, poetry, public speaking, singing, dancing, and other cultural activities. Dr. Zubaida also noted Suravi's extensive humanitarian work, including rapid disaster response and various social service initiatives across the country.

BNP leader Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain has called on the government to promptly swear in Ishraq Hossain as the new mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), following a court order and official gazette notification. Despite the court’s decision, the government has yet to arrange his oath-taking. In protest, Ishraq’s supporters blocked the road in front of the Nagar Bhaban and halted services inside the city corporation office.

BNP leader Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain slammed the recent statement by the Advisory Council—which suggested the government would take necessary steps if foreign conspiracies made governance impossible—as unclear and misleading. He argued that the government’s claim of disruption is self-inflicted and demanded general elections by December along with the resignation of controversial advisers.

At a street rally in Chattogram’s Chawkbazar, NCP leader Hasnat Abdullah urged voters to choose capable leaders in the next election. “If you don’t find qualified candidates from the NCP, don’t vote for us,” he said. “Don’t vote for party symbols; vote for those who will serve everyone.” He called for internal accountability, saying, “If we are honest in our own conduct, our leaders cannot be corrupt. If we sell our votes again, we will suffer for five years.” He stressed that the fight against corruption must begin at home.

Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has asked for unconditional forgiveness from anyone hurt or wronged by the actions or behavior of the party or its members. “We do not claim to be above mistakes,” he said, adding that despite their best efforts to support victims, martyrs’ families, and injured party members, they were unable to fulfill all responsibilities due to various limitations. He also alleged that during the trial of Azhar, “safe homes” were created to detain leaders under duress and produce false witnesses.

NCP Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain stated that the acquittal of ATM Azhar is a triumph for the right to a fair trial. He emphasized that no citizen should lose their life through a mockery of justice rooted in political rivalry. He accused courts under the Hasina administration of engaging in judicial killings by denying fair trials to dissenters. Akhtar demanded that the current International Crimes Tribunal must align its proceedings with genuine international legal standards. He also criticized the government's approach of pushing reforms aside under the pretext of election concerns.

Following the Supreme Court’s acquittal of Jamaat leader ATM Azharul Islam, Shibir leader Sadiq Kayem wrote on Facebook that the Chief Justice himself described the prior verdict as a “gross miscarriage of justice.” He explained that such a term refers to a serious error in legal proceedings that violates a defendant's rights and undermines the very purpose of justice, often leading to the punishment of innocent individuals while real perpetrators go free. He further claimed that the war crimes tribunal was a political conspiracy by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and urged for a legal review of all past verdicts to formally acknowledge what he described as judicial oppression.

Jamaat’s Nayeb-e-Ameer Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn the death sentence of party leader ATM Azharul Islam, who was previously convicted of crimes against humanity. Dr. Taher remarked that the verdict marked the triumph of truth over falsehood and expressed gratitude to the judiciary. This is the first time in Bangladesh's legal history that the Supreme Court has acquitted an individual previously sentenced to death in a war crimes tribunal.

In response to the acquittal of Jamaat leader ATM Azharul Islam, Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman stated that the execution of 11 party leaders was carried out through fabricated verdicts. “Justice itself was brutally murdered,” he said, blaming an authoritarian government for deliberately eliminating the Jamaat leadership. He added that had these leaders been alive today, they could have guided the nation through its current crisis with wisdom. Dr. Rahman expressed hope that, with the support of the people and by the grace of Almighty Allah, the politics of revenge and discrimination would one day come to an end.

Following the Supreme Court’s acquittal of Jamaat-e-Islami leader ATM Azharul Islam in a war crimes case, party activists gathered in front of the Supreme Court’s annex building to offer a special two-unit prayer of gratitude (Shukrana Namaz). Many supporters, including men and women, reportedly fasted as a form of devotion while awaiting the verdict, which they say confirms the innocence of their “wrongfully accused” leader.

In a courtroom confession, Ripon, a suspect in the murder of Shahriar Alam Samya, revealed that two separate drug trafficking groups were involved in the killing. He said after the murder, he transported the prime suspect by motorcycle to the Suhrawardy Udyan temple gate, from where another group helped him escape to safety. The perpetrators later fled to Cox’s Bazar. Ripon admitted that 5 to 7 people were directly involved, with two delivering fatal blows while others stood guard. All suspects are reportedly involved in narcotics trade. Five suspects were produced in court on Monday, where Ripon gave his statement.

The Appellate Division has overturned the death sentence handed to Jamaat-e-Islami leader ATM Azharul Islam in a war crimes case. The verdict was delivered on Tuesday by a seven-member bench led by Chief Justice Dr. Syed Refaat Ahmed. Defense counsel Shishir Monir stated, “First, we thank Allah. He has been completely acquitted of all charges. This was injustice in the name of justice.” Following the ruling, there are now no legal barriers to Azharul Islam's release.
