Journalists in Thakurgaon have accused Officer-in-Charge Md. Shahidur Rahman of Thakurgaon Sadar Police Station of corruption and case manipulation. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir acknowledged their concerns, stating that the law-and-order situation has worsened following the mass uprising. He alleged that under the previous administration, the police were politically biased and failed to take necessary actions. However, he noted that no one had personally reported allegations against this officer to him before. In response to the journalists’ claims, Fakhrul assured them that he would discuss the matter with higher authorities and call for an investigation. If the allegations are found to be true, he pledged to urge the government to take appropriate action against the officer.

Central leaders of the National Conservative Party (NCP) have conducted a mass rally in Comilla, demanding the ban of the Awami League, the declaration of a Second Republic, and the establishment of a constitutional assembly. Rifat Rashid stated, “We will not allow extortion or occupation in Bangladesh anymore. Our politics will be about freeing the working class from exploitation.” Meanwhile, Jayanal Abedin Shishir called on Chief Adviser Dr. Yunus to take immediate action, labeling the Awami League as a “genocidal party” and demanding their prosecution for the July massacre.

A violent altercation between two factions of the BNP left at least 10 people injured in Kaina village, Bauphal, Patuakhali. The conflict erupted over a music event organized near a local mosque. The incident occurred when Sohrab Mridha, Yusuf Mridha, and Nasir Mridha got into a heated argument with event organizer Chunnu Mridha. At one point, Chunnu and his group—comprising Dulal, Liton, Mojibor, Jashim, Ujjal, and 10-15 others—attacked them with sharp weapons and sticks. When local residents attempted to intervene, they too were assaulted. Both factions are affiliated with the BNP.

British MP Tulip Siddiq has stated that her legal team is prepared to address any formal questions regarding corruption allegations against her in Bangladesh. When asked if she regrets her past association with the fallen Awami League after the mass uprising, she responded, “Check my legal letter and see if there’s anything for me to answer. The Bangladeshi authorities have never contacted me, but I am waiting to hear from them.” Last month, Chief Adviser Dr. Yunus told Sky News that Tulip Siddiq had left assets in Bangladesh and should be held accountable for them.

On Wednesday evening, the residences of two Awami League leaders in Sylhet—former City Mayor Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury and former MP Shafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel—were attacked and vandalized. Earlier that day, the banned Chhatra League held a sudden protest march in the city, which may have triggered the incidents. According to locals, a group of assailants stormed Nadel’s residence in Housing Estate, damaging CCTV cameras and laptops. Later, around 7:30 PM, another group attacked Anwaruzzaman’s home in Pathantula, destroying furniture. Despite the violence, no injuries were reported in either incident.

According to a Politico report, former U.S. President Donald Trump has informed his close allies and Cabinet members that Elon Musk will step down from his federal government role in the coming weeks. Musk has been serving as the head of an open office in Trump’s administration, tasked with reducing government spending. However, he is now expected to return to his business ventures while continuing to offer advisory support to the government. While Trump has been pleased with Musk’s contributions, both reportedly agreed that the time for Musk’s exit had arrived. Speculation suggests that Musk may continue to serve as an advisor to Trump after he leaves office.

BNP Vice Chairman Ahmed Azam Khan stated that Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus endured persecution similar to BNP members. “During the fascist era, 600,000 BNP leaders and activists were subjected to false charges and harassment. Dr. Yunus also faced hundreds of fabricated cases and was oppressed at every step,” he claimed. He emphasized that BNP stood by Yunus during his struggles. Now that he holds office, he must fulfill his promise of leading Bangladesh toward prosperity and ensuring free elections. Khan further announced that BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will return to Bangladesh soon, followed by Tarique Rahman, and that the entire nation is eagerly awaiting their arrival.

Dr. Tasnim Zara, Senior Joint Secretary of NCP, praised Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus for instilling integrity and dedication in the people. In a Facebook post, she wrote, “Yunus Sir has given people a taste of honesty and devotion. They will not return to extortionists.” She added, “Now is the time for a new generation. Now is the time for a new Bangladesh.”

Jahidul Islam, the Central President of Chhatra Shibir, stated that the July-August movement is a fight against oppression, extortion, and terrorism. He accused certain individuals of being power-hungry and emerging as neo-fascists. “A fascist-free Bangladesh will never allow them to succeed,” he asserted. He claimed that patriotic and fearless students are ready to shed blood and even embrace martyrdom to resist neo-fascism. Islam also warned that those who betray the sacrifices of martyrs will face severe consequences, especially if they follow directives from foreign powers. Reflecting on past hardships, he expressed enthusiasm for celebrating Eid in better times.

Jamaat-e-Islami has issued a statement condemning the inclusion of idols and symbolic representations in an Eid celebration rally. Golam Parwar, a Jamaat leader, criticized the display, claiming that under the “fascist government,” public enthusiasm for Eid had diminished. However, this year’s celebrations felt more genuine to many. Despite the government’s efforts to add grandeur to the festivities, the presence of idol-like symbols in the Dhaka rally deeply shocked Jamaat leaders. Parwar stated, “Islam does not permit religious joy to be expressed through idols, statues, or visible representations. There is no historical precedent of the Prophet (PBUH), his companions, or later caliphs celebrating Eid in this manner.” He urged authorities to investigate those responsible for the controversy and ensure such incidents do not recur.

BNP leader Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie declared that lasting and genuine democracy in Bangladesh would be realized under Tarique Rahman’s leadership. He reiterated the demand for a general election to establish a people’s government. Annie warned against conspiracies to undermine democracy and defame BNP, urging all party members to strengthen Tarique Rahman’s position and work towards their shared vision. He also called on former and current leaders of the BNP’s student wing to remain vigilant against threats to democracy.

Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, Special Assistant to the BNP Chairperson, emphasized the need for unity among party leaders and activists to counter conspiracies. He stated that democracy was restored through student and public sacrifices, and now, a people’s government must be established through elections. He urged all party members to follow Tarique Rahman’s directives and remain united against any obstacles. He also stressed the importance of grassroots-level service to ensure the benefits of the uprising reach every household.

Sarjis Alam, a leader of the Nationalist Centrist Party (NCP), held a meeting with government officials in Atwari, Panchagarh, in the absence of the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO). As he left the meeting, he was confronted by Motiur Rahman, a member of the Upazila BNP’s convening committee, who questioned the legitimacy of Alam attending such meetings despite not being an elected representative. In response, Alam clarified, “This was not a government meeting. As a resident, I wanted to understand the local issues. If I can contribute to resolving them, it will benefit the people.” A video of their exchange has since gone viral.

In a statement, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) claimed that BNP's central leadership has lost control over its local branches, leading to political instability. The statement condemned frequent internal clashes within BNP and its affiliated organizations. It cited a March 30 incident in Ramganj where Mahbub Alam Mahi’s father, Azizur Rahman Bachchu Molla, was severely injured in a clash between local BNP factions. Another attack on March 24 in Hatiya targeted NCP leader Abdul Hannan Masud during a public meeting. Despite BNP’s condemnation and expulsion of accused members, violence persists. NCP leaders urged BNP to take effective action against extortionists, terrorists, and land grabbers within the party.

On Tuesday, in Kachua, Bagerhat, local BNP leaders led an attack on the police in an attempt to free a detained individual. The attack resulted in injuries to at least four police officers. In response, joint forces of the police and army conducted overnight operations, arresting 17 BNP activists involved in the attack. The arrested individuals have been charged and sent to court. The detainees include Md. Riaz Sheikh (25), Md. Aminul Haque (28), Md. Hemayet Molla (52), Md. Sabbir Sheikh (19), Md. Sohag Sheikh (23), Md. Robiul Islam (27), Amirat Hossain Lijon (20), Md. Sakib Sheikh (18), Md. Ibadul Sikdar (26), Md. Abul Khair Sweet (41), Md. Omar Faruq (39), Md. Shawon Akin (21), Md. Jony Sheikh (18), Md. Rafi Sikdar (21), Md. Iyar Hossain (32), and Md. Riazul Islam (29). All of them are affiliated with the BNP's local chapter.
