Jamaat-e-Islami leader ATM Azharul Islam urged the government to grant legal recognition to the issues agreed upon by political parties in the Consensus Commission.
“So far, no concrete action has been taken. It is the government’s urgent duty to formalize these agreements,” he said.
He warned that ignoring the consensus could fuel political complications, adding that Jamaat is running nationwide programs to build public opinion on the matter.
Referring to historical struggles, Azhar said: “Shahid Abu Sayeed gave his life to ensure change from oppressive rule. Jamaat stands for that change.”

Magura district Jamaat chief ABM Bakar Hossain has come under fire after signing a party certification letter on official pad in support of multiple accused in the murder case of two students, Shahid Ahad and Suman, who were killed during the July uprising.
The document claimed that the accused—Shahabuddin, organizing secretary of Swechchhasebak League in Polashbari Union, and Sohel Rana—were “members of Jamaat’s organizational family” and “committed to Islamic values.” Following this endorsement, the accused were granted bail.
The revelation has triggered widespread anger among locals, as both men are known Awami League activists. Responding to criticism, Bakar Hossain said: “Many people come to me for certification. They withheld information about the case. I didn’t know they were accused in the Ahad-Suman murder.”

Islami Andolon leader Syed Faizul Karim has criticized the BNP for objecting to the proportional representation (PR) system, arguing that it would benefit them.
Speaking at a protest march near Baitul Mukarram, he said, “A senior BNP leader himself claimed they have 90% of the people’s support. If that is true, then under PR they should win more than 270 seats.”
Karim also warned that if the interim government delays reforms and elections under foreign influence, a united movement will erupt. He demanded a legal foundation for the “July Charter,” which he said was the demand of the people, not just his party.

Veteran politician Fazlur Rahman has declared that a new political party aligned with the spirit of the Liberation War is set to emerge, comparing its rise to that of Imran Khan’s movement in Pakistan.
Addressing supporters, Fazlu said, “There will be 300 candidates under this party if it contests elections. If BNP continues to suspend or expel me, I have no choice but to either quit politics or take a different path.”
He recalled his long-standing role as BNP’s convenor and district president in Kishoreganj, even enduring violent attacks for the party. Expressing frustration over his suspension, Fazlu challenged BNP’s stance, stating that if excluded, he may form a new platform with massive support from expatriates.

BNP standing committee member Abdul Moin Khan stated that mutual trust and respect among political parties are essential for successful reform.
He cautioned against rigid, traditional approaches, warning that clinging to them could lead to disasters like the events of August 5. Moin urged open-minded dialogue, alongside greater use of technology for national security, energy, food supply, media, and social platforms.
On elections, he noted: “All parties agree on one thing—elections must be fair. Whoever the people vote for, they should win. There should be no dispute about this.”

BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman emphasized that the party has consistently modernized itself to meet the demands of time and contemporary challenges.
Speaking on the party’s 31-point program, he said BNP’s policies are built on commitments to education, healthcare, youth employment, climate change, and digital innovation. Ahead of the national election, he stressed the importance of winning every voter’s trust, noting that the party is reaching out across all social classes and professions.

He invoked the legacy of Ziaur Rahman’s multi-party democracy and Khaleda Zia’s uncompromising struggle against autocracy, urging unity, discipline, and commitment to public service.

GOP leader Rashed Khan has demanded that the Awami League, Jatiya Party, and the 14-party alliance be barred from contesting elections until ongoing trials against them are concluded.
Speaking at a press conference, he said, “Their organizational activities must be suspended. If the court later permits them to pursue different politics, we will not object.”
He further alleged that a section of the government is deliberately blocking treatment abroad for ailing leader Nur, fearing it would harm the image of the army and police. Rashed warned, “If the interim government cannot protect the heroes of the mass uprising, and if a 1/11-style situation returns, no one will be safe.”
