A headmaster in Adamdighi, Bogura, was physically assaulted by a tenth-grade student named Hridoy Hossain after he was instructed not to use his mobile phone in class. The injured teacher, Atiar Rahman, later filed a police case against Hridoy and three others. In protest, a large number of students formed a human chain on the school grounds and in front of the Upazila Parishad on Monday afternoon, demanding justice. A memorandum was also submitted to the UNO seeking disciplinary action.

The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has once again raised gold prices in the local market, marking the 28th price adjustment this year. Under the new rates, 22-carat gold will now cost BDT 171,286 per bhori (11.664 grams). The price for 21-carat gold is set at BDT 163,494, 18-carat at BDT 140,143, and traditional method gold at BDT 115,905 per bhori. BAJUS clarified that a 5% government VAT and a minimum 6% craftsmanship charge set by the association must be added to the base price. However, the final cost may vary depending on design and quality.

Italian Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi, during his visit to Dhaka, expressed interest in hiring more Bangladeshi workers and ensuring safe migration. In his meeting with Chief Adviser Prof. Muhammad Yunus, Matteo stated that Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni may visit Bangladesh before September to boost bilateral ties. In Rajshahi, a borrower named Zahurul Islam (55) allegedly faced severe mental abuse by employees of Rural Reconstruction Foundation (RRF) after failing to pay loan installments. Unable to cope with the pressure, Zahurul consumed poison inside the NGO’s Baneshwar office on April 29. His condition deteriorated rapidly, and instead of taking him to the hospital, some RRF staff allegedly abandoned him on the roadside. Relatives rushed to the scene and later admitted him to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital in critical condition. He is currently fighting for his life.

Home Affairs Adviser Jahangir Alam Chowdhury confirmed that 54 individuals have been detained in connection with the attack on Hasnat Abdullah. To prevent traffic congestion linked to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s return to Bangladesh, the Ministry of Religious Affairs has requested all Hajj pilgrims to arrive at the Hajj Camp by 6:00 AM on Tuesday. Khaleda Zia’s air ambulance departed from Heathrow at 9:35 PM (Bangladesh time) on Monday and is expected to land at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 10:30 AM on Tuesday. She will proceed directly to her Gulshan residence ‘Firoza.’

‘United Peoples Bangladesh’ (UP Bangladesh) is set to formally launch on May 9 with the announcement of its convening committee at the Central Shaheed Minar. The event will be attended by families of martyrs and wounded participants from the July uprising. Chief organizer Ali Ahsan Junayed stated that the platform aims to transform the existing political culture of Bangladesh, promoting ethical leadership, justice, and social security. He added that the movement would work toward restoring social contracts based on religious values, strengthening communal harmony and mutual respect. UP Bangladesh also calls for justice for the Pilkhana massacre, the Shapla Chattar crackdown, and the July genocide, alongside a ban on the fascist Awami League and economic empowerment of affected families.

Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has claimed that Indian Rafale fighter jets were forced to retreat due to Pakistan's electronic jamming systems. This marks the first time Pakistan has publicly acknowledged the use of electronic warfare to counter Rafale aircraft. According to Pakistani defense sources, the incident occurred between the night of April 29 and 30. The Rafale, procured from France, is currently India’s most advanced fighter jet.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal has assured that there is no possibility of vote-rigging at night in the upcoming elections. The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kalabagan Police Station, Moktaruzzaman, and Sub-Inspector (SI) Belal Hossain have been temporarily withdrawn following allegations of an unlawful home raid and extortion. According to complainant Abdul Wadud, a group of police officers led by SI Belal, along with 15 to 20 unidentified individuals, forcefully entered his home on the night of April 29. Employees of the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (BAEC) gathered in protest to demand the restoration of autonomy and other 11 key demands. A delegation presented a petition to the Chief Adviser, which included demands for immediate permanent appointments to vacant posts, halting ministry interference in BAEC’s work, and ensuring an environment conducive to research and respect for scientific work. They also called for the restoration of the commission's authority to approve higher education and training nominations and requested a pay raise for top scientists in line with public university professors.

The Health Sector Reform Commission has submitted a report to Chief Adviser Dr. Yunus, recommending that primary healthcare be made a constitutional right. Professor Abul Kalam Azad, head of the commission, stated that despite a limited budget, this is achievable. The commission also proposed the creation of a new "Primary Healthcare Law," which would define citizens' rights to free primary healthcare and the state's responsibilities. Additionally, it was recommended that antibiotics only be prescribed by MBBS doctors, and the prices of medicines, tests, and doctor consultation fees be regulated.

Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh has published the names and details of 93 individuals killed during the May 5, 2013, rally in Shapla Square. The list is considered preliminary, and the number may increase after further verification. The human rights organization "Adhikar" had reported 61 fatalities related to Hefazat's program. The list includes the names, addresses, and family details of the victims, most of whom were young.

Activist and writer Pinaki Bhattacharya wrote on Facebook, “Hasnat Abdullah embodies the spirit of the July Revolution. An attack on him is an attack on the spirit of the revolution. Protecting Hasnat Abdullah is our collective responsibility. If I were in the country, I would have protected him with my own body. Those who are in the country should protect him the same way.” Hasnat Abdullah’s car was attacked in Gazipur on Sunday.
