Speaking at a protest rally in Kakrail, Ishraq Hossain said, “The Election Commission is a sovereign institution—its decisions must be respected.” Expressing disappointment, he said that even after forming a new party, parts of the group remain aligned with the current regime, preventing a truly neutral government. He accused the government of conspiring to obstruct BNP’s participation in elections and interfering with the judiciary. “Can we expect fair elections under such a regime? Do we want another authoritarian government?” he asked, demanding the resignation of advisers Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan and Mahfuz Alam.

BNP leader Abdus Salam has demanded that Ishraque Hossain be immediately installed as mayor. “For the past seven days, Dhaka city BNP leaders have been demanding that Ishraque assume the mayoral role. Why is the government pushing the country toward uncertainty over a simple matter?” he asked. “A few advisers should not cause the government to fail,” he warned. “The court has ruled, the Election Commission has published the gazette. So whose interest is being hurt by Ishraque assuming office?” Salam said the EC gazette is still valid, questioning why the mayoral handover has not happened. He also slammed plans to lease Chattogram port to foreign companies and establish a humanitarian corridor for the Rohingya, calling them betrayals of national sovereignty.

Bagchas convener Abu Bakr Mojumder has issued a three-point demand: no national election should be held before student union elections; all vice-chancellors, proctors, and administrative officials appointed or nominated through Mirza Fakhrul Islam and Wahiduddin Mahmud must resign before Eid-ul-Adha; and a clear roadmap for student union elections across educational institutions and campuses must be declared. He warned that if these demands are not met, the movement will escalate beyond campuses to the streets. “A national election will not take place before student union elections,” he asserted.

NCP leader Nasiruddin Patwari accused several advisers of aligning with BNP interests, stating, “Asif Nazrul is stalling the July Declaration — betraying the blood of the people. Without issuing the declaration, you won’t be able to remain in the country.” Patwari warned that advisers acting as BNP spokespeople would be forced to resign. He specifically named Economic Adviser Dr. Wahiduddin Mahmud and Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed, accusing them of working to destabilize Bangladesh’s economy. He also claimed the Legal Adviser is trying to dismantle the Ministry of Law. Patwari added that without reconstituting the Election Commission, NCP will not allow any elections, accusing the current EC of acting as a BNP office. “BNP talks big using Awami League’s money,” he said, claiming that BNP has even shut down city corporation offices using those funds. “The Mujib-era constitution will not be tolerated,” he declared.

The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has dismissed a case filed against BNP leader Mirza Abbas over alleged irregularities in the allocation of a government plot. The case, filed on March 6, 2014, accused Abbas and three others of unlawfully allocating a seven-acre plot in Mirpur-8 to the Dhaka Journalists' Cooperative Society in 2006, during his tenure as Housing and Public Works Minister. The decision brings an end to years of legal proceedings against the senior BNP leader.

NCP’s Dhaka North unit has announced that its protest will continue until Chief Election Commissioner A.M.M. Nasir Uddin and four other commissioners resign. At a rally demanding EC restructuring and local government elections, Saiful Islam said, “This commission was hastily and controversially formed. It must go.” Al Amin Tutul added, “Brother Ishraq should not cause public suffering by locking the city building. We are not protesting to validate an illegal election. They threaten to drown us in urine, but where were they for the past 16 years? They couldn’t even move a single sand truck.”

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has questioned Tuhin Farabi, former personal aide to a health advisor, and Dr. Mahmudul Hasan regarding corruption allegations. Gazi Salauddin Tanvir, recently granted temporary release from his post as NCP Joint Secretary, was also summoned and interrogated. Although Tuhin and Dr. Mahmudul were expected to appear the previous day, they attended the ACC’s Dhaka headquarters on Wednesday. Interrogation is currently ongoing.

The Nationalist Citizens’ Party (NCP) staged a protest on Wednesday at 11:45 AM in front of the Election Commission (EC) headquarters in Agargaon, demanding the reformation of the EC and the immediate holding of local government elections. Tight five-layer security was deployed in the area. NCP convenor Md. Nahid Islam accused the current EC of bias, stating, “We no longer have faith in this commission. It must be restructured immediately.” He also called for the announcement of dates for both constituent assembly and national elections.

BNP leader Ishraq Hossain has urged advisors Asif Mahmud and Mahfuz Alam to resign from all government roles, citing democratic principles and political decorum. In a public statement, Ishraq said, "Since you are affiliated with political parties and may be directly involved in future elections, it is only logical to step down." He encouraged them to follow the example of Nahid Islam, who resigned to avoid conflict of interest. Despite a 10 AM ultimatum on Wednesday for Ishraq Hossain to be sworn in as DSCC Mayor, no action was taken. Following threats to lock down Dhaka, supporters took positions in key areas including Matsya Bhaban, Kakrail, and near the Secretariat. Protests also continue for the seventh consecutive day inside and outside the City Corporation office. Meanwhile, a court hearing on a writ petition to block Ishraq’s swearing-in concluded this morning, with a verdict expected by noon.

The National Coordination Platform (NCP) has served a show-cause notice to Abdul Hannan Masud, accusing him of facilitating the release of three individuals detained for allegedly creating unrest in Dhanmondi under the guise of being ‘coordinators’. One of the detainees had been previously expelled from BOIBC for moral misconduct. In response, Hannan Masud claimed he intervened at the request of the DMP Commissioner and mediated the matter upon administrative appeal since no formal complaint had been filed.

BNP leader Ishraq Hossain stated in a Facebook post, “Even if they come to my residence to administer the oath, it won’t change anything.” He highlighted two key demands: all political party representatives in the interim government must resign immediately, and any court decision must be implemented lawfully, regardless of whom it favors. Protesters demanding the swearing-in of Ishraque Hossain as mayor have issued an ultimatum: administer the oath by 10 AM on Wednesday or face a complete city shutdown. Former secretary Mashiur Rahman warned that harsher action, including halting garbage collection, would follow if the demand is not met. The City Corporation Employees Union announced that all civic services—including waste management, sanitation, and power-related services—would be suspended from Wednesday morning unless the demand is fulfilled.

BNP leader Professor Nargis Begum declared that the people of Bangladesh no longer wish to see delays or manipulations regarding elections. “The future of the country must be built according to the people’s vision, and their voting rights must be restored immediately,” she said. Calling for a peaceful and fair election environment, she added, “BNP has never compromised the interest of the people. For the past 17 years, we have stood firm against the fascist regime of Sheikh Hasina. Our movement will end with the restoration of people’s voting rights.”

Around midnight on Sunday, two young men were standing by the roadside in Central Road under New Market police station when two others on a motorcycle approached them. In a sudden and brutal attack, three individuals began assaulting one of the youths. One assailant knocked him to the ground and repeatedly stabbed him with a knife before fleeing the scene. The victim has been identified as Saif Hossain Munna, a BNP activist. He is currently receiving treatment at the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (Pangu Hospital). A case has been filed. Police have named the attackers as MC Shuvo, Rana, and Mobarak—three individuals who arrived on two motorcycles.
