Sarjees Alam wrote that a few months after the July Uprising, he came to know Dr. Tasnim Zara, Samantha Sharmin, Monira Sharmin, Nahida Sarwar Niva, and Tajnuva Zabeen. Observing their participation in discussions and decision-making processes, he concluded that these individuals are not only gems of the NCP but also future treasures of Bangladesh. He noted that, unlike the past when women’s representation was limited to token “quota” or “reserved seat” postings, Zara, Samantha, and their peers represent true participation and leadership. He urged against criticism driven by habit and encouraged appreciation for genuine efforts.

In a press statement, the BNP announced that despite facing severe oppression, disappearances, killings, and harassment during the fascist era, they led the movement to restore democracy. Aiming to establish democracy, accountability, transparency, and inclusive governance, the BNP and its affiliated organizations are actively reaching out to the people across the country. Youth organizations like Jubo Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal, and Chhatra Dal are working jointly. They have divided the country’s ten organizational divisions into four major regions and planned an integrated and dynamic campaign. Each region will host a two-day program: the first day will feature a seminar titled “Youth’s Vision for the Future Bangladesh,” and the second day will hold a rally to establish the political rights of the youth.

Nurul Haque Nur, President of the Gono Odhikar Parishad, stated that the reforms finalized through discussions must be implemented under the current government. He emphasized that everyone must remain committed and work forcefully to implement effective reforms in the greater interest of the nation. National interests should take precedence over personal, party, or group interests. Nur added that while many individuals protested in their own capacities, the political reality limited what could be achieved. However, the July Uprising created a new political context. It is reported that Gono Odhikar Parishad has expressed written agreement on 127 out of the 166 proposals from the National Consensus Commission, partial agreement on 23, and disagreement on 15 proposals.

The Nationalist Citizens’ Party (NCP) organized a torch rally and protest assembly under Shyampur-Kadamtali police station, demanding the banning of the Awami League and an end to extortion activities. Protesters chanted slogans warning Awami League supporters and extortionists that such practices would no longer be tolerated. Leaders from Shyampur, Jatrabari, and Kadamtali units were present. The NCP vowed to continue its movement until the Awami League is officially banned.

Majibur Rahman Manju, Chairman of the AB Party, stated, “We are all ashamed over Lamia’s suicide, and the government should be held responsible and sued for it.” Manju explained that amid the fascist regime in Bangladesh, while political parties were busy debating over liberation and governance theories, the need for a new political force became evident. In this context, the platform ‘People’s Aspiration of Bangladesh’ was founded on April 27, 2019, which later evolved into today’s ‘Amar Bangladesh Party’ (AB Party). He further mentioned that the party’s ideology is inspired by two global leaders: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

After a meeting with the BNP, Andaleeve Rahman Partha stated that elections should be held by December this year. He emphasized that despite ongoing reforms by the interim government, true completion can only come through elections. “The people are eagerly waiting. Any delay might give some groups a chance to create chaos,” Partha warned. He suggested the government move towards elections based on agreed reforms.

At a meeting with the National Consensus Commission, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) General Secretary Shahid Uddin Mahmud Swapan emphasized the need for fundamental changes to Bangladesh’s political structure following a bloody uprising. He called for constructing a ‘Republic’ that reflects the will of the people based on five reform commission reports.

The Election Commission has officially gazetted BNP candidate Mohammad Ishraq Hossain as Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation. The gazette follows a legal victory and consultation with the Ministry of Law, confirming his 2020 election win.

BNP leader Salahuddin Tuku emphasized that the people were deprived of voting rights in 2014, 2018, and 2024. He stressed the need for a fair national election and said that BNP’s 31-point plan envisions job creation, unemployment benefits, healthcare insurance, and family cards for all citizens.

Sakhawat Hossain Khan, lawyer for the plaintiffs in the Narayanganj seven-murder case, accused the previous fascist government of delaying justice. He alleged that Shamim Osman and Nur Hossain orchestrated the murders, and demanded the immediate execution of the verdicts.

AB Party leader Asaduzzaman Fuad criticized the government for relying too heavily on bureaucrats, leading to the collapse of administrative services. He argued that dismissing elected councilors through bureaucratic orders stripped them of their dignity and urged the interim government to reverse these actions and reappoint those who had fought for democracy.

During a meeting with a visiting Chinese Communist Party delegation, Jamaat-e-Islami leader Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher expressed gratitude for China’s support and urged further investment in Bangladesh. He proposed granting full independence to Myanmar’s Rohingya-majority Arakan State as a solution to the refugee crisis.

In an interview with Al Jazeera, Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus claimed he requested Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to “silence” Sheikh Hasina during a BIMSTEC summit. Modi reportedly refused, stating that in India, social media is open for all and he cannot control Hasina’s communications.

In a protest demanding justice for the murder of Primeasia University student Zahidul Islam Parvez, the Private University Wing of Chhatra Dal demanded the abolishment of the “Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.” They issued a 72-hour ultimatum to arrest the perpetrators. Zahid’s father, Jasim Uddin, called for swift public execution of his son’s killers.

BNP leader Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury revealed he faces 42 cases and emphasized that over six million BNP activists have been victims of false cases, forced disappearances, killings, and professional losses. He questioned whether the state would ever compensate those who have been wronged during their fight for democracy against authoritarian rule.
