Gaza, Thursday — The Quds Brigade, the armed wing of Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), has launched a missile strike targeting the Israeli military command center in southern Gaza, according to a statement from the group.

They claimed the strike hit its intended target directly. In a coordinated operation, the group also reportedly fired mortar shells at Israeli military positions north of Khan Younis and announced the destruction of an Israeli tank in the city center.

The attacks come amid ongoing escalations between Palestinian resistance groups and Israeli forces in the region.

Israeli airstrikes have killed at least 118 Palestinians and injured over 581 others in Gaza within the past 24 hours, according to the local health ministry and media office. More than 300 deaths were recorded over 48 hours, with 26 incidents classified as mass killings. Civilian areas including shelters, homes, markets, and food aid centers were targeted. On Thursday morning, 33 people were killed at a food distribution site, 13 in a tent, and 16 in a school. Witnesses described the missile strikes as so intense that some victims were burned to death.

As ceasefire negotiations continue, Israel has intensified its attacks in Gaza, killing over 300 Palestinians in the last 48 hours alone, according to Gaza’s Ministry of Health. Among the dead were 24 people waiting for food at a relief center. Israeli airstrikes hit shelters and aid facilities in both northern and southern Gaza. Gaza’s main hospital is facing a critical fuel shortage, endangering hundreds of patients. According to the UN, 82% of Gaza is under Israeli military control or under threat of forced displacement. Dr. Marwan Sultan, Director of the Indonesian Hospital in Gaza, was killed along with several family members in an Israeli airstrike on his home. The Palestinian Health Ministry condemned the strike as a "barbaric crime against the medical sector." The Israeli military claimed it targeted a senior Hamas figure and is investigating civilian casualties. Dr. Sultan’s daughter insisted he had no political affiliation and was solely dedicated to treating patients during the ongoing war. Separately, at least five were killed in another airstrike on a "safe zone" tent camp in Khan Younis.

Fourteen Israeli ministers have urged Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to move swiftly in annexing the occupied West Bank, citing current U.S. support as an opportune moment. The ministers warned that recognizing any portion of the West Bank as a Palestinian state would be a grave threat to Israel’s existence. Among the dead were journalist Ismail Abu Hatab, women, and children. The café was known as a gathering spot for journalists and activists. The explosion left a deep crater, and rescue operations are ongoing. Victims have been taken to Al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza City. Locals have described the attack as a “massacre.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the recent war with Iran has created several strategic opportunities for Israel, including the potential to free hostages held by Hamas in Gaza. Speaking during a visit to a Shin Bet security site, he emphasized that rescuing the hostages is now a top priority.
