BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia will visit Evercare Hospital in Bashundhara this evening for a scheduled health check-up.
Shayrul Kabir Khan of BNP's media wing confirmed that she will leave her Gulshan residence at 6:00 p.m. for the hospital.

Despite being absent in the previous round, Jamaat-e-Islami participated in the second phase of the National Consensus Commission’s ongoing discussions.
The meeting was held at the Foreign Service Academy at 11:30 a.m., where the party was represented by its Nayeb-e-Ameer, Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher.
Today’s agenda reportedly included discussions on the National Coordination Council (NCC), the upcoming presidential election, and district-level coordination proposals. Around 30 parties and alliances took part in the talks.

The government has issued the “July Uprising Martyrs’ Welfare and Rehabilitation Ordinance 2025,” aimed at supporting families of those killed or injured in the July civilian uprising.
According to the ordinance, any attempt to fraudulently claim medical, financial, or rehabilitation support through misinformation, falsified documents, or concealment of facts will be considered a criminal offense.
Penalties include up to two years in prison, a fine of BDT 200,000, or double the amount of financial assistance claimed.
The ordinance categorizes casualties as either “July Martyrs” (those killed) or “July Warriors” (those injured), with the injured further divided into three categories: critically injured, seriously injured, and injured.

At an event marking the birthday of Zubaida Rahman, BNP senior leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi alleged that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina rewrote the country’s history and textbooks according to her personal preferences—something that, he argued, would not have been possible in a democratic system.
Rizvi claimed that Bangladesh’s democratic crisis persists, and significant efforts are still needed to restore democratic governance.
He accused Sheikh Hasina of running a 16-year-long smear campaign against the BNP, which, he says, continues to this day. Rizvi also stated that under Tarique Rahman’s leadership, the BNP is actively working to bring back democracy. He further criticized the ruling government’s treatment of Zubaida Rahman, stating that even she was not spared from state repression, harassment, and false legal charges.

Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has pushed back 20 Bangladeshi nationals through the Masudpur border in Chapainawabganj. The group includes 3 men, 7 women, and 10 children. They were rescued by Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) around 4:45 AM during heavy rainfall. Colonel Fahad Mahmud Rinku of BGB stated that all individuals are currently in BGB custody and their citizenship status is being verified. Upon confirmation, they will be handed over to Shibganj Police for further legal procedures. The BGB has officially lodged a strong protest with BSF regarding the incident.

Five individuals, including former Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner Md. Ruhul Amin and ex-District Judge Sadikul Islam Talukder, appeared in court over allegations of embezzling land acquisition funds intended for a coal-based power plant project.

The court has set July 1 for framing charges in the document forgery case. All the accused are currently out on interim bail. Other accused include a court stenographer, a lawyer, and a Nazir from the DC office.

Although Jamaat-e-Islami skipped Tuesday’s second round of talks with the National Consensus Commission regarding ongoing political reforms, the party has expressed a positive outlook on joining the Wednesday session.

Jamaat Assistant Secretary General Dr. AHM Hamidur Rahman Azad confirmed their consideration for participation. No explanation was provided by senior leader Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher for Tuesday’s absence.

The Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs has issued an ordinance forming the "Department of the July Uprising" to ensure the welfare and rehabilitation of families of martyrs and injured fighters from the movement.

The National Coordination Party (NCP) has announced programs across various districts and sub-districts this Thursday, demanding justice for the “July Declaration,” “July Charter,” and the July Massacre.

Newly formed district and sub-district coordination committees have been instructed to hold their first executive meetings at their respective offices. Programs will be held immediately following these meetings, according to an official statement.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested Khorshed Alam, an associate of former mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, for his alleged involvement in a shooting during a recent mass uprising.

CID Special Superintendent Jasim Uddin Khan stated that Khorshed led the attack on the protesters and confessed during preliminary interrogation. Earlier, on May 15, another close aide of Taposh, SM Kamal Haider, was also arrested in the same case.

Under the new policy, businesses can make payments through local advertising agencies without needing separate central bank approvals.

In response to a spike in COVID-19 cases, the Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) will begin a vaccination campaign this Sunday. The first phase will prioritize senior citizens over 60, pregnant women, and frontline workers.

Former MP of Kushtia-1 constituency, AKM Sarwar Jahan Badsha, has been arrested in Dhaka’s Basila area. Police say Sarwar Jahan is accused of orchestrating attacks on student and public protesters during the July mass uprising. Investigators have reportedly found evidence linking him to killings during the clashes. Additionally, corruption charges are pending against him. Authorities stated that he will be produced before the court following legal formalities.

A case has been filed against 34 individuals—including two former MPs, a former superintendent of police, and other senior officers—for the 2012 custodial death of a BNP leader in Sherpur. The deceased, Abu Bakr Siddiqui Bachchu, then vice-president of Sherpur District Krishak Dal, was allegedly detained by the Detective Branch (DB) at the order of then-SP Anisur Rahman and former MP Atiur Rahman Atik. The following day, Bachchu’s lifeless body was found at his home. Family members allege he was killed solely for his involvement with the BNP.
