He added that had these leaders been alive today, they could have guided the nation through its current crisis with wisdom. Dr. Rahman expressed hope that, with the support of the people and by the grace of Almighty Allah, the politics of revenge and discrimination would one day come to an end.

In a courtroom confession, Ripon, a suspect in the murder of Shahriar Alam Samya, revealed that two separate drug trafficking groups were involved in the killing. He said after the murder, he transported the prime suspect by motorcycle to the Suhrawardy Udyan temple gate, from where another group helped him escape to safety. The perpetrators later fled to Cox’s Bazar. Ripon admitted that 5 to 7 people were directly involved, with two delivering fatal blows while others stood guard. All suspects are reportedly involved in narcotics trade. Five suspects were produced in court on Monday, where Ripon gave his statement.

The BSF allegedly forced 14 people—men and women—across the Boraibari border illegally. Despite BGB’s call for a flag meeting, BSF has not responded. The pushed-in individuals are reportedly still stranded in no-man’s land.

In a recent directive, the Finance Division of the Ministry of Finance has increased the festival allowance for MPO-listed teachers at non-government educational institutions.
