The U.S. Embassy in Dhaka announced that 17,000 metric tons of food aid for Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh have arrived in Chattogram. The aid, sourced from American farmers, will be distributed through the World Food Programme to over one million refugees. A violent clash between two groups in Sunamganj’s Jamalpur village left 40 people injured, including five who suffered gunshot wounds. The dispute originated from a Facebook post related to a longstanding land conflict between the factions of Lebu Mia and Raj Uddin. The situation escalated into a fierce confrontation on Tuesday, involving firearms and traditional weapons. Authorities are investigating the incident.
In March, Rumor Scanner detected 298 cases of misinformation spreading across the internet. In comparison, 271 cases were identified in January and 268 in February. Among the March cases, at least 27 were related to rape. Political misinformation accounted for 105 cases, making up 35% of the total. Other categories included 103 cases of national issues, 12 international, 36 religious, 3 related to entertainment and literature, 3 educational, 12 cases of fraud, and 16 cases related to sports. The majority of false information, 143 cases, was video-based. Among the detected misinformation, 168 were outright false, 97 were misleading, and 31 were distorted. Facebook was the primary platform for spreading misinformation, with 273 instances. Additionally, Indian media propagated four misleading reports involving Bangladesh, and three instances of misinformation were spread from Indian social media accounts and pages.
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) intercepted seven Indian cows at Doarabazar early Wednesday morning. Two separate patrol teams seized four and three cows, respectively. The estimated market value of the seized cattle is around Tk 560,000. However, the smugglers managed to flee. The battalion commander, Lt. Col. A.K.M. Zakaria Kadir, stated that the cattle have been handed over to the Sunamganj Customs Office and that border surveillance will remain strict.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi may meet Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus on the sidelines of the BIMSTEC Summit, according to Dr. Khalilur Rahman, the Chief Adviser’s special envoy. Latifur Rahman Kochi, a schoolteacher and BNP leader, succumbed to injuries sustained in a road accident in Bagha, Rajshahi.
